Four assistants including Richardson at AZ and Bland at USC arrested on corruption charges. Apparently involved in funneling money to recruits family to sign with Addidas schools

It does seem that recruits supposedly heading to places like WSU and other universities suddenly changed their mind and headed to USC. and other Universities. It could be very big and turn the recruiting world on it s head. It is hard when one plays by the rules and a few blatantly ignore and violate the rules

FBI probes are never good for your resume. Either is sitting in jail! I am always surprised the schools the headline these kind of things and how the head coach and even AD wouldn't have some awareness of what was going on. It will be interesting to follow.

These assistant coaches really only do what the coaches tell them to do. The involvement of the FBI is a indication that the NCAA may not be able to protect their"favorite sons". They are charged with fraud and conceivably could do prison time. That is why the FBI is probably squeezing them to haul in the higher ups. Yes ,indeed,it will be interesting.

The effect may be staggering. One wonders if schools like UCLA,Kentucky and Oregon may be involved? The sheer talent going to these super schools is staggering. One cannot just point fingers without evidence but one wonders if this behavior is widespread? Is this just the tip of the iceberg?

7 schools implicated so far. ESPN speculating that Louisville could be looking at "death penality" if much of this stuff is proven. Investigation is ongoing by FBI.

If true, this is a sad day in college basketball. Some parents just seem to want a big piece of the pie. The lure of fast cash has been the doom of many a person.

Family of Louisville player reportedly got 100k. Not excusing families, but these sleazes were lining up offering big b ucks

If athletes were getting a piece of the pie a lot of the "sleaze" would be taken out of play. In the grand scheme of things 100K is chump change compared to the millions made in college football and men's basketball.

Too young at the time to remember, but when the old Pacific Coast Conference broke up WSU and Idaho were the only Schools not in trouble for recruiting violations. Sometimes not having the resources to cheat is a good thing

Pitino and AD Jurich out at Louisville. Who else will follow suit? When the FBI is involved and coaches are getting arrested I am not sure how you can last at any program.

The legal ramifications are huge on both sides of this. I am all for the firing. I just hope that due process was followed and the actions stand scrutiny. I again wonder if this is just the tip of the iceberg?

The Louisville AD Jurich refused to fire Petino,so he was fired and then Petino was fired. The dominoes have started in college basketball.

I'm not sure where we stood with the recruits but we did have offers out to several players that might be rethinking their choice.

Oh the webs of entanglement. It seems that Tom Jurich s daughter had procured"on her own",a job as communications manager with Adidas. The hiring came prior to Jurich s signing a long term deal with Adidas ,without input from the Board of Regents.

Wow! Not exactly the best optics.

I will guess that the top brass at Adidas are scrambling and trying to have the peons fall on a sword for them. The Sgt Schultz approach to the legal mess which the Corporation, schools and coaches now find themselves in.

Now the press is reporting that Petino played a role in the payment of money to a recruit. Petino continues to deny any guilt

One wonders if Enfeld and Miller will become en snarled in the controversy? Remember this is the FBI not the NCAA doing the investigating. They cannot expect their assistants to fall on the sword since it may mean jail time.

Absolutely and it will spread big-time to all the Nike folks as well.

I am still wondering about other big schools like UCLA,Kentucky, and others who seem to land all of the star 5 players.I do not wish anyone bad but it would be nice if everyone had to play by the same rules. Are the teams like Kansas, and North Carolina involved?

So far, there have been four coaches named and a few players mostly freshmen and sophs. However,if a couple of assistant coaches crack under the pressure ,they may implicate the head coaches, and other older players in the program. It is hard to envision that this has only been going on for two years. There were one or two players who seemed to be destined for wazzu who changed courses in mid stream to USC. Perhaps, this was only a coincidence but i am sure that other schools saw the same thing happen to their recruits. Time will tell if these are isolated incidents or the tip of the iceberg Louisville may be looking at he Death Penalty with all the documented crap which has gone on there. One wonders if Adidas and other companies have a paper trail on the payments?

Sources told ESPN to expect one or two more head coaches to be gone in the next month

After all the crap at USC with their football a few years back, this is not what they wanted and.or needed. The pressure to win from fans and boosters seem to spur the coaches to recruit and win at all costs. One wonders if there will be actual jail time for the coaches? That would be an eye opener and a sad thing to see.

I have no doubt others are involved.

I just read where UA s Richardson is being dismissed. He faces a total of 60 years in prison and a minimum fine of 1.5 million dollars if convicted That is a sobering thought. The FBI with wiretaps are squeezing these guys hard to follow the paper trail.I am sure many coaches and schools are now running scared. It is a good thing that most of Kent s staff are new to the game and are now well aware of the pitfalls awaiting others in the profession.

Coaches Quotes "It is about time this shit broke,i will sleep like a baby tonight." Unnamed high major coach. " I told my players,i was never so happy to see all you three star players today"second unnamed head coach.

North Carolina s coach just vouched for the integrity of Nike and his coaching staff.Apparently Nike is now being questioned.
