Walk on Brandy Okeke just deadlifts 814 lbs. I was more than impressed with Jahad hitting 704 last week. Seems like the team has a couple of weight room freaks.

It's always good to see guys busting it in the gym. It's contagious, and a good sign for the program under Rolo. Hope they keep the fire burning.

Any body that can deadlift 814 pounds, should NOT be a Walk On and instead should have a scholly, and should be able to find some spot where he can use his strength, whether thats at DL, DE, LB, OL, FB, TE, RB, Special Teams, etc.

You cant teach that kind of STRENGTH. You can train that sttength that is there tho.

Coach him up, develop him, find the right spot for him, coach him up some more.

A guy THAT STRONG, that can deadlift 814 pounds, SHOULD BE DOMINATING ON A P5/PAC 12/NFL football field.

Thats NFL STRENGTH.

Nope. Ive seen guys with more impressive lifts than that and they couldnt play a lick.

Strength helps. Being a football player helps more. It isnt a power lifting meet. It’s a football game. Not the same.

Sure they cant play a lick AT FIRST. But they CAN be COACHED UP, TRAINED, DEVELOPED into being able to use their ability, strength to lift 814 pounds to play football, and Dominate.

I know there are exceptions, as I used to lift 700 pounds on the leg pushes, sleds, and 450 pound squats on a 5 ft 9 in, 169 pound frame, body, and I was at best a #1 back up at QB, RB, WR, LB, Free Safety spots at the Highschool Level, at best.

But I was a exception.

Most that are that strong, that can deadlift 814 pounds can play, Dominate on the football field IF IF they are Trained, Coached Up, Developed right by the right coach(es).

My Problem was that my best bench was ONLY about 185 pounds, and I wasnt tall enough didnt weigh enough, couldnt take the pounding, and altho was FAST, didnt have the arm to play QB, and wasnt FAST enough to be a starter at WR/LB, and wasnt strong enough to play LB, and not FAST enough to play Cornerback.

No, this guy has great strength that can be turned to elite strength given development, but anyone can have elite strength given the work. Some of the strongest guys I ever knew, and biggest, were very un athletic. They made it to the field because they were so strong and perceived to be capable of being an elite player only to routinely be beat out by others. And of course if someone receives the right development they can be elite, that goes for anyone whether they are tiny like Tyler Lockette or giant like Warren Sapp. It’s like saying if they make him good he’ll be good.

Wrong again. Just because you are strong doesn't mean you can play Pac 12 football. And yes, that means even if they are coached up.

Not to mention you’ve got to stay on the field. I’ve seen weight room freaks who can’t stay healthy, constantly pulling hammies and such. That said, these videos of guys throwing big weight around is encouraging to see.

What about holding for FG's and PAT's?

Those guys have their own Heisman Trophy nowadays

It’s great to see kids getting after it and being successful. Still gotta be able to play ball.
