Competition for Mateer in portal. Let's hope for more........

Reposting, Bumping this. The link of the so called expert source says WSU is the predicted, crystal ball landing spot for JUSTYN MARTIN, A TOP 10 RATED TRANSFER QB FROM UCLA THAT PREDICTED TO TRANSFER TO WSU.

And if either he does transfer to WSU, but fails to win QB1, or if he does not transfer to WSU, WSU fine with 6th year SENIOR, WALTER PAYTON FINALIST, Zevi Eckhaus that would be QB1.

Also dont think Dickert would goto Wake Forest.

1. Dickert went 8-4, lost 3 straight to end season: There are better Candidates for the Wake Forest Job then Dickert.

2. Dickert is a Wyoming, Wisconsin, country, small college town, college coach. Not a BIG CITY coach.

3. Dickerts family is in Pullman, and his son is in Pullman Public School System.

4. Dickert is probably going to stay until 2026-2027 season after the PAC 12 gets it's 8th football team, has a signed media deal, is a best of rest G5.

5. Dickert probably not going to go 2700 miles to East Coast Wake Forest Job.

6. When Dickert leaves it would be to a SUBSTANTIALLY higher paying job then the 2.7 mil Dickert gets now.

7. When Dickert leaves it will be to a top 33 Blue Blood, like a Wisconsin, not another WSU type like a Duke, Kentucky, Wake Forest, all awesome BBALL Programs, but Sucky WSU type football program.

8. Even if Dickert would accept a job offer from Wake Forest, there is only about a 25%, 1 in 4 chance that Wake Forest would choose Dickert over the other 3 candidates on the Short List.

WSU is, will be just fine. The Cupboad is not empty, it is semi full or will be semi full with some transfers to WSU. The Transfer Portal taketh and GIVETH. The Sky is not falling, will not fall at WSU, at least for a couple, few, some years, in the future someday.

We’re gonna see 50 new players every year at WSU.

I don't think it will be 50, but at least 13 to 33 transfers will transfer portal away from WSU, every season.

The transfer portal taketh, but also GIVETH.

WSU will have to get JC transfers, FCS transfers, G6 mid major D1 transfers, P4 transfers(5 star players rotting on Bench behind other 5 star players at Blue Bloods)

WSU is a DOUBLE AA FARM SYSTEM TEAM, PROGRAM for Blue Bloods, that can be a LARGE FISH in a Smaller Pond, as long as have good coaching, and as long as get good, decent, ok 3 stars, 3.5 stars, 4 stars, Transfers from Portal, JC, etc, and not get even 1 NR, 2 star, and at least get 3 stars.

That's Doable for WSU, and WSU is doing that under Dickert.

The only problem with that is that there will be a lot of new faces to cobble together, have chemistry, etc, similar to how David Riley put together a awesome Bball roster that where Riley had to cobble together new faces together, have chemistry.

But that will be the new reality at WSU each season.

But WSU can deal with that each season, and still win 9 games each season on average.

7. When Dickert leaves it will be to a top 33 Blue Blood, like a Wisconsin, not another WSU type like a Duke, Kentucky, Wake Forest, all awesome BBALL Programs, but Sucky WSU type football program.
.
Fact-filled post as usual Mik, but WSU has cracked the Top 20 in seven out of the last 10 seasons.

That sure doesn't seem like a "sucky type" program

Mik - good catch on Justyn Martin on my linked list. I did not even notice WSU as his predicted spot. That said:
  • What school district do Dickert's other two kids go to? Not the Pullman schools apparently. It is comforting to know that his family lives in Pullman. I would not have guessed that in a million years
  • And your math - so if there are 3 other candidates, that makes 4 total. So what you are saying is that Dickert would have a 1 in 4 chance? And that equates to a 25% chance? Thanks for helping clarify that
Pete - words escape me..........

That's true, but that's a outlier for WSU types. When I say WSU types, I am not talking specifically about a semi small to semi mid college, that has defied the Semi Small to Semi mid college that has defied the semi small to semi mid college stereotype where that usually semi small to semi mid college football programs are usually sucky, have sucked.

Examples. Vanderbilt, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, are poster child, comparable sized colleges, similar, same as WSU, are WSU typical stereotype WSU types, except that they have not been successful like WSU that a recent outlier to that. Also WSU is a historical WSU type from 1950 to about 1990. But from 1990 to 2008, WSU was better then it was as the Historical WSU type it was. Then because of the Paul Wulf years, WSU is publicly perceived as the 1950 to 1990 WSU type.

It's kind of like the term Coug it. When a college not named WSU snatches defeat from the Jaws of Victory, it's sometimes said that that college couged it just like WSU.

The WSU 1950 to 1990 archetype of Poor Ole Little Ole Aw shucks WSU is what is meant by the term WSU type that comparable to Vandy, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas football wise. Thus Vandy, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas are WSU types that overall Suck, have Sucked, Will Suck, with the occasional outlier successful season, just like the 1950 to 1990 WSU.

Now WSU is not the Poor Ole Little Ole Aw Shucks WSU anymore. WSU as you have said is, has been, and probably will continue to be successful just like it has been since the Mike Price, Leach, last 10 years, excluding the Wulf years.

But despite that, Vandy, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas are still compared, called sucky WSU types, because of 1950 to 1990 WSU history, Paul Wulf.

Now you, me other WSU fans know WSU isn't a sucky WSU type, and does not suck. But as a WSU fan, we don't have to wear crimson colored glasses, and dont have to drink crimson colored Kool aid, and can accept the reality, truth that WSU has sucked at times a lot in past and may suck at times in future.

Despite that the term, archetype, etc, 'WSU type' is just as valid, comparable as Coug it, and is a way to classify, categorize, compare WSU type colleges, just like the term Alabama type, Blue blood type colleges for teams like Michigan's, etc.

That's the perception, truth, reality, and we as WSU fans can accept that for now.

Also it's even more likely that Justyn Martin will choose WSU, now that Mateer leaving, and with the fact that Martin would only have to beat out Zevi, and that even if not beat out Zevi, he Martin would be QB1 the next coming season, after Zevi gone, so Martin would only have to wait 1 year at most, longest, to be QB1.

And if Justyn Martin doesn't choose WSU, either Zevi will be QB1 at WSU, or Dickert will bring in some other high profile transfer QB like a Zevi, like a Justyn Martin, etc.

So WSU will probably be just fine. You, me, others get that. To bad some WSU fans aren't getting that.
