Teams that play us better be able to either slow us down or have an offense that can outscore us.

SC matched our offense score for score and then got the benefit of being able to target our player to slow us down.

Utah slowed us down, but just not enough.

Oregon State knew they had to do everything in their power to score on us. That is why they unloaded every single trick play that Smith had in playbook and went for it on every 4th down because they need they needed to match us touchdown for touchdown.

Looking ahead on the schedule I see one team that can slow us down (UW) and one team that can match us score for score (Oregon). I don't see Cal or Arizona being able to keep up with our offense, even with our defense. I don't see Stanford being able to slow us down either. It is not out of the possibility that this team will win 9 games because of how loaded this offense is. I don't know about Colorado. I think we'll have a better idea about them these next two weeks.

The Oregon state game has been the only game this season where our offense was for the most part effective throughout the entire game (note, the Eastern game was solid). The rest of the season we have had good halves of offense, and then completely blanked ourselves in the other half. My hope for the second half of the season is to see us be more consistent through four quarters.

Happy to be 5-1, and we could easily be 6-0.

Turnovers will be the difference. The way this team is playing, mistakes are about the only thing that can slow it down. Even the defense bends more than I would like, they have kept the games manageable. Cougs gotta minimize mistakes.

...special teams. We have to be able to snap the ball and place the hold for extra points and field goals. We have to be able to catch punts and kick-offs...Coverage-wise, well you know, make a tackle :) I really like our punter, but our kickoff guy and field goal unit leave something to be desired.

Yes, there have been special team issues, but they have also returned a kickoff for a TD, and blocked a punt for a TD. That block punt/TD, was our first since 2003, and we all know how rare it is for us to ever have a punt/kickoff return for a TD. To have a both in one season is also something to be positive about.

Furd will "take the air out of the ball" as the cliche goes. Grind out possessions, kill us in TOP. A fast start will be crucial.
