C'mon, you know I'm just kidding about that.

But it was just a few weeks ago that debate raged on here, with one member claiming that WSU owes its lack of success and facilities to the fact that fans aren't plugged in and donating like they should.

Still feel that way? Still expect people to pony up to see that crap?

You have one guy on here who wants to expand Martin to 50K plus.

C'mon, you know I'm just kidding about that.

Meh. Good luck with that donations pitch now Bill.

Our program is broken. It's broken completely.

People want a winning team...I do too...but how do you expect a team to run out and start winning when people don't show up?

I mean it's kind of a chicken before the egg thing. Fans want a winning team...Fans won't show up to game.... Team needs energy to feel like they are playing for something....fans give them nothing.....fans don't care....players don't care..... Fans want a winning team...and around and around we go.

You have to win your away games. About the same amount of fans there to see you as home games.

Fans didn't lose this game. Fans explain, at any given time, 2% of our W/L record. It's not good enough.

Well we do better on the road. Beat USC on the road, beat Oregon State on the road, beat Utah on the road, beat Arizona on the road, beat Cal on the road.... maybe Pullman isn't an inspiring place to win.

If forced to speculate, I'd say that road trips might go a long way toward galvanizing the team and focusing them on their mission. Everyone's together, it's them against the world in a hostile environment, and the travel itself provides a way to get away from the distractions back home. If the team that showed up today had the same mindset as the one that played Auburn a couple years ago, I think those 56-10 score predictions would have come to fruition.

Martin Stadium is a graveyard. Googles says 2014 enrollment was 28,686. The students aren't coming. Im guessing that anyone that's lived in Pullman for the last 10 years already knows how this story ends. So they're not coming.

Show of hands.... who from the Puget Sound or PDX Metro is driving 11 or 12 hours round trip to watch this team?

It's gonna take wins to get fans there. The locals want a fun time, they're not getting it. Those more abroad aren't in it for the time and money needed.

WSU may just be playing in front of a lot people dressed like empty seats for a while.

It's a tough situation. It always has been for us, I really don't know what the solution is.

WHAT, Biggs??? YOU were the bozo who kept saying Martin needed to be expanded, regardless of record!!!! You said "do that first." Now you are arguing the other side of the issue!! You are an imbecile, pure and simple. Why don't you type up a business plan to expand the stadium to your 50K or 60K or whatever idiotic number you said, make an appt with Moos, and pitch the idea?? Utter moron.

If you've got a stadium at seats south of 35,000 you spend all your waking hours winning Pullman. There are enough people and students there to fill your stadium. Then Spokane/Tri Cities/Yakima.

There is no reason for WSU to spend any time at all chasing Puget Sound or PDX fans. The stadium can be filled with those that live within 3 hours.

The issue is the WSU has never put out a winning product consistently enough OR had anyone worth a rats arse in marketing to capture those markets.

So they have an empty stadium and zero game day atmosphere or culture.

Well, I was there. It was one of the most miserable experiences of my life.

You're a good guy gibbons if I could get there I would but I'm across the country gave my tickets away. (Which they didn't go). It's not the people that go...it's the people that don't...but still it's not all their fault. It's a terrible cycle of play that fuels the reluctance to go. So when they see this they say "Glad I didn't go" which reinforces not going. Which reinforces the players not caring if they win or lose...

It's Leach's job to make sure his players care...even if there were literally no one in the stadium.

I'm sitting in the Beasley RV lot now. My boys are bored to tears because it's raining sideways and they can't leave the camper. I pulled them out of school early for a 5 hour drive, which was worse due to Labor Day I-90 / Vantage traffic delays. The game conditions were as uncomfortable as any that Ive sat through.

I've witnessed a lot of heartbreakers and blowouts, but I can't remember leaving the stadium more pissed off than I was today.

Give your boys a good book to read. No one should ever get bored. Seriously (sort of), I salute you for making the trip. Your wife must be a gem for enduring your addictions. :D

Are your kids still 4 and 5 years old? Why don't they ever age? :)

BTW, hilarious teaser line.

I never said Flood was going to get Rutgers to the next level. Schiano got Rutgers out of the dumpster, and to a respectable program. 2006 was a great year (10 wins, not 11), and after that, we stayed mediocre. Remember, Flood was hired because Schiano left Rutgers in the lurch, Cristobal turned Rutgers down, and Flood was seen as a coach who could hold the 2012 recruiting class together, and he did, and it has paid dividends, including Carroo and Hamilton and Nova (even with his warts) in that class.
Flood has been learning on the job and improving each year. Flood has taken us to 2 bowls in his 2 seasons, and he did not do that bad last year. Rutgers got crushed by the big boys of the B1G, but we were not B1G ready in size. That has improved, and despite a tough schedule, we hope to be 7-5 or 8-4 this year.
Maybe Flood could get us to the next level. This year and next will determine if he is here for the long term. Some fans think he could be a slow grower like Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech. The problem for Rutgers is how do you get to the top of the B1G East with Ohio State, Michigan with Harbaugh as HC, and Penn State's resurgence?

Wazzu has a similar problem in the PAC12 North with Oregon, Stanford and California's resurgence.

Lots of parallels between RU and Wazzu.

Patrol, were you in section 25? Saw a dad and his boys sticking it out to the end along with about 40 other people in that section.

You have absolutely NO clue when it comes to geography, trading centers, driving distance, disposable income, etc., etc., But again, why not trot out your first brilliant idea? Remember? Expand the stadium to 55K? Yeah....that's what I thought. You know absolutely nothing--zilch--zero about marketing, markets, and demographics.

As further evidence of this, when I first showed up to school at the tail end of the Mike Price era, you had to be there BEFORE the gates opened (3+ hours) to get a seat even in the front section if you were a student.

By mid-Doba, you could find a seat somewhere if you arrived at halftime.

When I came back to see Wulff, you could find a seat anywhere at any time.

When Mike Leach showed up and they started getting P12 Net money and building things, seating got competitive again.

IT DIDN'T HELP. So now we're back to mid-Wulff era seating capacity.

My boys are 9 now, and it's getting harder to mindlessly entertain them. I don't blame anyone, let alone kids, for not wanting to be in the stadium yesterday. It was painfully cold and uncomfortable just to look up at the scoreboard.

Kudus to the Dad you saw, but it wasn't me. We're in section 23.
