Can't remember which thread his name came up, so I started up a new one since the rumors are getting hotter that Moos will be firing him at Nebraska as soon as the Huskers finish up their NIT run. Same rumors indicate Fred Hoiberg will be hired to take his place. Miles may not be a home run hire but I think he would be a strong candidate at WSU and I know he wants to keep coaching somewhere. He's only had 6 losing seasons in 26 years of coaching and at least has established a competitive program at Nebraska. Maybe not my first choice, but if Chun prefers an older, experienced coach....Miles and Soderberg would be good candidates. My home run hire would be Thad Matta (for experienced coaches) but probably not realistic.
By the way, I enjoyed watching North Dakota State and North Carolina Central play last night. Both have young coaches who have their teams playing hard-nosed, smart basketball: they both ran a lot of effective sets on offense with great off-the-ball screening, they both had a lot of unselfish play that didn't include "hero ball", they both played aggressive and effective defense with a lot of effort, and they both took care of the basketball with a minimum of turnovers. Very refreshing not to see dribble, dribble, dribble, hoist up a three....or unforced turnovers. The commentators last night were praising both coaches (Moton for NCC and Richman for NDSU) for having well-coached teams that valued the fundamentals. Just reminded me there are some coaches at smaller schools not making $1.4 million a year who can put together teams that play well together.
