If I’m Dickert, the first thing I do is meet with JDL and the entire offense and promise them that I’m going to bring in an offensive coordinator that you’ll love. You tell JDL, Stribling, Ollie, Victir, Moore, and Hobert that if they stay, they are #1 on the depth chart at WSU. If you transfer, who knows. I tell them, I’ll lock down the defense, you guys run the offense.

Recruiting starts now. Internally first. Stabilize the offense. The defensive players already love Dickert. If he can unify the team and keep the roster together, he might be the best choice to lead us the next 2 seasons. Recruiting high school kids will be a challenge. No question about it, but we have the skill players on offense and some stout defensive front 7 kids to keep the program above water during the transition.

One of two things will happen. You will be retained and hopefully WSU is still in the mix. Or you will be fired. At that point you hit the ground running looking for work and you take your recruiting relationships with you to your next coaching job.

Richardson didn't walk. He was fired. Good CB coach. Two most popular assistants were J Rich and Stutz. This wasn't just a Rolo firing.

Don't see that working, but i probably need to step back. How did the administration back your coach? Maybe something inspiring was said in player only meeting.

Well the AD gave them perspective. That is what I got out of it. He commented on how they lost two teammates, Bryce Beekman and Tyler. At the end of the day it is only a game. Tyler and Bryce- that is life and death.

Each person will grieve and react differently. My dad when my high school coach was run after two days prohibited me from missing the game. He told me I had a commitment to the high school. we will see if the players get the same type of advice.

Chun's comments to the women's basketball team when he fired June went over really well too. Sent the program into a full rebuild because most of the team hit the portal. I predict short term pain is coming our way. Time will tell if it pays off in the long run.
