Too funny, sc

LMAO. Sc goes down to Tulane in a major meltdown. Too damn funny!!
They probably didn’t let Grinch on the plane home. “ See ya later, there’s a bus in the morning”. After the 2nd half against Utah in the Pac 12 championship game, and now this collapse in the 4th quarter it’s over. This is USC, it won’t be up to LR, I’d be surprised if Grinch is around much longer than a month. And even that is a stretch.

I don't know, so far he's seemed to be pretty much teflon-coated. His WSU defenses had serious deficiencies, and he still got hired at tOSU. The transition from Tressel and his short tenure hid his deficiencies there, and he bounced to Oklahoma...where again, his defenses had some major breakdowns, especially in big games. Would have been really easy for Riley to leave him there, but for some reason he still took him to USC.

I'm not sure where there are still coaching vacancies, but if I'm Riley I'm pushing Grinch really hard to be HC with one of them. Looks better if he gets hired, rather than firing him, and I still get rid of him. Has Sacramento State replaced Taylor yet?

I think Grinch is good enough to make a bad defense decent against average competition. The improvement from TERRIBLE made him appear better than he was.

Regardless of how prestigious a program is and how much money they have to throw at recruits, it's obvious that the scholarship restrictions somewhat preclude programs from being strong on both offense and defense.

Coaches, even at superpowers like Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma, USC, etc. have to live with mediocre defensive play. You can change your philosophy and go defense heavy with talent and scheme, but that's a proven coach killer at the highest level. The top of the top programs defenses can stop 8 teams on their schedules, but when they face elite offenses, they're toast. That's the same issue WSU faces on a smaller scale. We can stop ASU, Cal, Wisconsin, Stanford, etc., but UW and USC run up and down the field on us.
