How hard does the new staff hit the Transfer Portal?

There's a lot of names in there...especially with all the coaching changes.

Obviously, would like to build from the ground up, but swiping a couple of young talented guys with a redshirt or some immediate grad transfers as 1-2 stop gaps will be interesting to watch.

Someone posted on Brand X that a son of a former All-NBA player has received an offer from WSU and USF - will be interesting if Smith could flip him as he's currently committed elsewhere (another program also searching for a coach).

I hope we aren't in recruiting wars with USF or we are in a world of hurt....again. Coach needs to adjust his recruiting to this conference. We will never beat out UCLA but let's aim to beat out MWC schools.

How will our activity compare to recent years. Any losses more painful than Flynn?

Well John was given his release from WSU over a week ago but the sites let that one go. i think that there will be others of consequence soon. We will see how the others react to this guy.

We had some interesting pieces but not a team. There are some people I'd like to keep but, as others have said, anyone not willing to buy in is free to leave.

Give it a rest dude. We suffered more consequences having Kent as a coach the last 5 years. He lost his best player last year and another player who we all thought wasn't that good, but turns how he just had terrible coaching because he was just named WAC Newcomer of the Year and 1st team All Conference. So, it would have been safe to say that John would have been gone by the end of his sophomore year. There is a reason why Smith got a 6 year deal, Kent left the program in that bad of shape.

I think we will need to start by trying to beat the Big Sky schools, then the MWC schools, then the WCC schools, which is where USF is. Then the Pac-12......

Not really worried about losing any players during this coaching change. We just got rid of a coach who had nearly two thirds of his recruits leave before playing a second season. The roster only had three underclassmen, everyone else would be gone in a year anyway.
