Yes, and I remember Falk coming in as a preferred walk-on was due to being full at the time.I thought Falk was recruited as a preferred walk on.
That’s right. I remember it didn’t take long for him to earn a scholarship.Yes, and I remember Falk coming in as a preferred walk-on was due to being full at the time.
quick google search led me to brand x, which is reporting that we are set to offer a record number of walk ons full rides. My first reaction is that that isn't great news if true.
Since the board doesn't seem to be moderated anymore, I'll link an article on the top 10 walk ons at Wazzu....

GREATEST WSU WALK ONS of modern era (Part I: position players)
THE VAST MAJORITY of walk ons either wash out or never see the light of day. But some of them hit the field and some of those not only play but shine. CF.C has scoured the ...247sports.com
Davis did come out of nowhere either in fall camp or spring ball. I believe he transferred from New Mexico State. Was Mawuli Davis a walk on? From what I remember he was, came out of nowhere. Think he was a transfer though, so maybe he did get a ride, I am not at all sure.
How about Scott Lunde? For some reason I am thinking that he started as a walk on.
Patrick Henderson didn't get the PT as brother Colin, but I think he was a walk on.
Waiting for better memories to confirm or correct me.........
6'4" and a pretty solid LB for us.Davis did come out of nowhere either in fall camp or spring ball. I believe he transferred from New Mexico State.
Another linebacker going back to the early 90's that walk-on who became a starter was Kurt Loertscher.
Hey! How about that? My feeble old mind was three for three-Davis, Lunde, and Henderson.Davis did come out of nowhere either in fall camp or spring ball. I believe he transferred from New Mexico State.

Yep, Withrow is listed in the article I linked above. Ken Granberry as well.Pretty sure Cory WIthrow also started as a walk-on. Don't know that I've ever seen a real contributor come from on-campus tryouts, but we've had several walk-ons who worked their way into starting roles...and even into some NFL camps.
I’m pretty sure Lunde was a campus tryout guy. Don’t think he was invited could be wrong.Hey! How about that? My feeble old mind was three for three-Davis, Lunde, and Henderson.
I had thought for a long time that CougKurt was Mr Loertscher, but I asked him one time on the board if it was him and he denied it. Maybe just hiding from celebrity?![]()
Actually, the board is casually moderated, but only for language, flaming, and anything inappropriate. We don't care about CF.C related content.Since the board doesn't seem to be moderated anymore, I'll link an article on the top 10 walk ons at Wazzu....

Good friend of mine. He was invited.Masi Kongaika (RIP) was a great walk on addition.
Lots of walk on success storirs, but not from student body tryoutsPretty sure Cory WIthrow also started as a walk-on. Exactly, kinda what I was asking about. You think over the years a few student bodies would have made an impact, but maybe not Some small school, overlooked athlete who didn’t want to go to a small school, typeLots of walk on success storirs, but not from student body tryouts

Ugh. I did not know that he passed not sure how I missed it. Dude had a heart of gold, one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. When I tell people about Polynesian football players and the type of people they are and the type of players they are, he’s the guy that always pops into my head. Nicest dudes who will give you the shirt off their back…and between the lines absolutely go to war for their brothers. RIP indeed.Good friend of mine. He was invited.
