I forgot the wag who said that the ASU win was an anomaly but we may be coming up on the 5th?. Maybe the conference wins will stop being an anomaly?:)

I would not get too far ahead of yourself. We are still 11th in the conference during a down year. I hope the anamolies keep coming but I doubt this is a long term trend. Glad for the kids. Once again I hope I am wrong.

i wonder if Las vegas will finally make the cougs the betting favorite against Utah? if so,then the term anomaly will not apply. :)

There is no question that this conference has been stronger in the past, but I find it amusing that some of us dismiss the men's basketball team's recent success. We've certainly crowed about WSU's success at other times when the conference was weak. For example, when the 1983 WSU football team won its last five games to finish 7-4, some Cougar fans were catatonic. You'll find some even to this day who prefer 1981-'84 to these past four seasons. But let me remind you it was a 6-4-1 UCLA team that went to the Rose Bowl after the '83 season. And the UW team we beat in the '83 AC ended up 8-4 after losing the Aloha Bowl to Penn State. USC, which crushed WSU 38-17 that year, finished 4-6-1. So, the conference was hardly much to write home about. Should that fact take away from that Cougar team's strong finish? Perhaps. Perhaps not.
It's quite possible our men's basketball team will tank the rest of the way, but if the success continues, it's OK to let El C bang away on his drum.

The last 4 games were legit. ASU/UA were road blowouts, competitive throughout with UW, and a win against a CU team coming off 5 straight wins. I don't think our defense has been as good the last 2 games but still much better than earlier in the year.

Utah seems to give us more problems than CU. Keep out of foul trouble and we should compete again.
