Utah gets transfer QB, Cal loses OC

In Pac-12 news, South Carolina QB Jake Bentley is transferring to Utah to play his senior year. Not sure if he's a grad transfer or will have to sit out a year. He lost his 3-year starting role to Ryan Hilinski due to injury. Utes have Jason Shelley coming back but it will be interesting to see if he or Bentley gets the starting job next year, assuming Bentley is eligible.

Also, Beau Baldwin, Cal's offensive coordinator, has been named head coach at Cal Poly of the Big Sky. I don't think that's a step up for him which leads me to believe he was perhaps on his way out at Cal due to their offensive ineptitude. Interestingly, old friend Jim Mastro had reportedly interviewed for the job but pulled out and will remain as Oregon's RB coach.

Did Mastro interview at SLO or Cal?

I was really surprised Beau struggled at Cal. Did Wilcox hog most of the scholarships for the D?

I remember a few years ago reports leaked that Baldwin was in line to be the Beavers HC until they decided to hire Smith last minute instead. Which was surprising given that his offense was atrocious during his entire tenure at CAL.

that was while he was at Eastern and it was when Gary Anderson surprisingly bailed from Wisconsin. His stock has dropped since then.

It was after his first season at Cal, which is why it was so puzzling... It would have made some since to hire him straight from eastern, but they saw his bad CAL offense for an entire season and still made a run at him.
