After more than a month searching for a DC, the hired John Pease who last coached in 2010. He has a lot of experience, both in college and the pros. But, it seems a little desperate to me. What do you think about this hire? Is it a better hire than Alex Grinch?

Wazzu needs recruiters and developers, it's not good enough to be one or the other. We can't just recruit to Wazzu because of a few Rose Bowls over 10 years ago. We need guys like Grinch, Joe, Manning, Wilson in the defensive side of the ball. Pease might meet what Utah is looking for in a DC.

I'm surprised Wittingham is still there, doesn't seem to have much support on the admin side.

There was some talk back, especially on the BYU board that Whittingham will take over after next season at BYU. Apparently Mendenhall wants to get into more sports administration and Whittingham is a good friend with both the AD and Mendenhall. Who knows, but that is/was the talk. Frankly Whittingham and Erickson are both jerks imo, and Erickson is below that in ethical behavior. There are many problems in Salt Lake City that is for sure, Whittingham has gone through assistant coaches like there is no tomorrow.

Thanks. In addition, looks like Dennis Erickson has been promoted.
To what, head bartender?
I am sure he would make a great one. I would definitely drink something mixed by him.

It depends on your beliefs. Does experience matter, and to what

degree does it matter? If it was a belief and expectation the problem with last years defense was coordination, and Mike Leach made a mistake hiring a guy from Montana, then my guess you would be more of a Pease guy. Pease has some great roots.

The other part of the equation is really how much is he going to coordinate? Wittingham is in the room.
