The day after and it's still pretty exciting to think about Klay's ceremony and the Cougar victory in front of 10,000+ fans. I'm hoping prospective recruits noticed all the nice things Klay had to say about WSU and Pullman....and that when Smith & staff contact some of these young players, they provide some video clips of yesterday. An endorsement from a superstar certainly should be an effective & unique asset for WSU on the recruiting trail. It will be interesting to see if there's an uptick as a result. I know Smith is still going to recruit a certain type of player and we probably won't be getting any HS all-Americans, but Klay's love for the Cougars should catch the attention of some decent players.

Also have to give Klay credit for being the first one I remember endorsing Kyle Smith when the WSU job came open. Up to that point, nobody had mentioned Smith as someone to consider, at least not that I know of.

My remembrance is he didn't just endorse him, he's the one who brought him to Chun's attention in the 1st place. That may be erroneous but, either way, I think it was a great hire. This is the most vibrant the basketball program has been since Klay's early days. I am astounded Smith has accomplished this much in such a short span. The play of his rookies alone is reason enough to be optomistic, but so is the improved play of the returnees like Elleby and Pollard.

Klay experienced what so many of us did in Pullman, and though he is on the shy side and has had to learn to speak publicly, he makes one thing clear:

Like most of us, he will always be a Coug.
