Smith should be really disappointed and embarrassed by his teams lack of effort and sloppy play.
This is a worse loss than anything Leach, Wulff, Rolo, Walden etc had in football.
Worse than Ernie's worst loss (Ernie was a volume loser), worse than Dick's 81-29, worse than Graham's worst loss, Len Stevens ditto.
Probably George Raveling losing to St. Martin's and Len Stevens tops this.

Exactly what it is. They partied all night and didn't show up today. Dumb

Also, let's recall that Dick's humiliating defeat to Oklahoma State was followed shortly thereafter by a victory over Arizona (top 15 team at the time) in Tuscon, breaking a brutal streak of losses.
Let's see if Smith will have a similar rebound.
A "buy game" on Thanksgiving break when the AD could have let students and locals in for free but didn't.
No student ever paid to watch a George Raveling game in Pullman.
The next two games are at ASU and home against USC. Let's see what happens.
Noah and Bamba being out AND + a couple, few, some of WSU players, partying, celebrating apple cup AND + the WSU win streak, easy games, EWU being perceived as just another Idaho, AND + WSU not showing up to really play, and playing badly, their worst game in like about 100 years, AND + EWU playing their absolute BEST game ever in the last 100 years, AND bad officiating at times, AND + Gueye, Roberts being in FOUL trouble(4 fouls, almost fouled out missed a lot of second half because of that), AND + Not playing Koulibaly more, and especially down stretch for his LOCKDOWN DEFENSE, EQUALS = EWU JUST BARELY BY SKIN OF TEETH WINNING.
WSU had a chance to either Tie, send it into overtime, win.
And WSU missed a number of front ends of 1 and 1 at the freethrow line, that would have tied, won the game.
Considering all the above, this loss was nowhere near worst loss. And the game was a FLUKE. If even any 1 of the above factors went WSU's way, WSU would have easily won.
And a FLUKE, like that certainly doesnt show how good or bad WSU will be. Its still easily possible, semi probable, semi somewhat semi likely that WSU will still win about 18 to 22 wins and still either goto NIT, or NCAA.
And as somebody else said Dick went on to beat Arizona after a humiliating loss.
This was the ULTIMATE TRAP, FLUKE, UPSET game. The stars, universe, etc, had to align just perfectly for WSU to have lost this game.
As embarrassing as this loss was, it can, probably will be motivation, and a teaching tool.
WSU has already Won 2 BIG TIME wins, vs 2 teams that will win their leagues, goto NCAA tournament.
That is a bigger indicator of whats going to happen this season instead of a FLUKE loss.
Also teams like Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Gonzaga, etc, even teams like them have had a ultimate, extremely rare HEAD SCRATCHER, FLUKE, UPSET.
Also Kyle Smith is too good of a coach to let this FLUKE loss, keep WSU from a great season, NIT/NCAA.
Also even tho WSU has a awesome team, they are new to each other, there can be problems, with Chemistry, Jelling, etc.

I suspect that because of that in the early pac 12 schedule, WSU will lose a game they have no business, shouldnt be losing, and win a game, like USC, that they should have no business winning.

Hopefully this serves as a wake up call to this team, and some of the fans. This team is way to talented to loose to this EWU team that will probably struggle thru a transition year. It also hopefully helps some fans realize that as talented as this team is, it is not loaded with NBA talent and while the potential is there for a great year of basketball at WSU, this team is very much a work in progress.

Guards -- none of them play defense. Our bigs are simply horrible. Don't want to hear the Efe is a "pro" talk. Same with all the rest.

The radio broadcasters in one of the games said that Smith said that there has been scouts(Probably NBA G league, professional overseas leagues, NBA, etc), that were scouting, looking at Noah Williams, Gueye, Efe, etc.
WSU does have FUTURE NBA PROSPECTS on roster. They are Noah, Efe, Gueye.
Efe has several NBA global academy ex NBA players, former coaches, experts, etc, that say Efe is going to be a FUTURE NBA PROSPECT.
Efe either played on, or just barely didnt make last cut to make Nigerian Olympic Team or Nigerian Jr National team or U 20 team, that has future or current NBA players on it.
Gueye was projected by NBADRAFTROOM.COM as being a lottery pick in the future
And before Dischon Jackson REGRESSED, he did similar to Efe, played on either Jr Olympic, National Team, U19, etc, where said team had future NBA prospects on it.
And Koulibaly had so called canadien experts, coaches, players, fans, people calling him a 1 and done.
Now not all these players will make the NBA. But despite that they are FUTURE NBA PROSPECTS.
If they werent they wouldnt have experts projecting them as PROSPECTS, and they wouldnt be playing on these SPECIAL teams, and they wouldnt have professional scouts looking at them.
Also just because a team like a WSU has FUTURE NBA PROSPECTS, does not mean they, or their team dont ever lose UPSET, FLUKE games to EWU types.
It happens to even the BLUE BLOODS, Duke, Kentucky types, with 3,4,5,6,7 FUTURE NBA PROSPECTS(NOT GUARANTEED NBA PLAYERS, and NOT all in the same 1,2 years, and spread out at 1,2 every 1,2 years. WSU has Efe, Gueye, Noah, ify, maybe DJ, Flowers, Koulibaly, where SOME of them might probably be Future NBA prospects that might probably make NBA eventually, spread out at 1 per every 1,2,3,4,5 years.)
Despite WSU having the best in 150 years talent, athleticism, FUTURE NBA PROSPECTS, depth, etc, they are still new to each other, are still, except for Noah, Flowers, etc, are still not experienced TOGETHER, lack CHEMISTRY, JELLING, etc, and that can cause FLUKE, UPSET losses, despite that BEST EVER talent, athleticism, FUTURE NBA PROSPECTS, depth, etc.
One only has to look at UW. UW had 1,2 One and dones, 1,2 future NBA Prospects, and loaded with 4, 5 stars talent, etc, over the last 1,2, 3 years, and look what they did, what happened to them.
Future NBA prospects, 5 star talent, Top 10 recruiting classes does not guarantee success, winning.
Heck even Ernie during his crap run produced Robert Franks, CJ, who were NBA prospects, that made the NBA.

Its obvious that at least 1 player partied, celebrated Apple cup, and that the team players barely showed up, thought it was going to be a walk in park, perceived EWU as another 48 point victory idaho, etc.
It was the ULTIMATE EXTREME TRAP, FLUKE, UPSET situation, loss.
The universe had to align perfectly right for that to have happened and it did.
It was the ULTIMATE wake up call and teaching opportunity.
Its also lack of JELLING OF CHEMISTRY of new players that are UNEXPERIENCED TOGETHER.
I'm not seeing it with Efe either. He has been a little dinged up with his knee, but I don't see an NBA player there.

If they are NBA prospects then they need to play like it. NBA scouts will see this tape and they were/are horrible.

To paraphrase an old cliche---you are never quite as good as your best game nor as bad as your worst. I watched the game and we slept walked most of the 2nd half. Rodman was hustling all over the place but got dinged up quite a bit. Efe and Gueye looked lost and Koulibaly spend most of the game playing out of control and forcing things on offense. It was a very ugly and disappointing performance but I wouldn't overdue the gloom and doom. Probably wouldn't have happened if Noah and Bamba had been available but we clearly shouldn't have needed them.
Until you hang up the sneakers for the final time every player is a pro prospect. Hell there are just so many pro basketball leagues out there, with players who didn’t even play college ball. Carter Skaggs is still playing, David Vik had a nice pro career, Casto is still playing, Lodwick played pro ball the list is endless. Many of the players on this team will make money playing basketball in the future, but NBA? Maybe one but even that is a long shot at this point. Does anybody really think we have six Potential NBA players on this team? Has Koulibay showed anything that says future draft pick? Is Efe playing like a draft pick? Gueye lotto pick? Get real!
Like I said, there is a reason why Pro, NBA scouts haven been scouting, looking at Noah, Efe, Gueye, according to the official WSU radio Broadcast crew said that Smith said.
And again NBADRAFTROOM.COM a popular, EXPERT Site projected Gueye a NBA draft Lottery pick, his Junior, Senior Year.
And Noah's father, and others have said that Noah is a Future NBA prospect, that altho not ready now, will probably be ready after his Senior year(He is a Junior now)
And canadian experts, coaches, players, experts, etc, were calling Koulibaly a one and done. Now obviously he is not a 1 and done, and he sat out injured 1 year, before this year.
It's not me saying this. Those sources said it.
And obviously not all those NBA prospects, will make the NBA.
But like I said before, even Crappy Ernie Kent during his horribly bad run produced Robert Franks, and CJ in the NBA.
If Ernie can do it, Kyle Smith can too.
At least 1,2 of these players will make the NBA, are NBA PROSPECTS, even if it takes them 5 to 10 to 15 to 20 years to make a NBA roster, play a game in the NBA.
Also Noah is as good as Kyle Weaver and may end up better then Kyle Weaver who made it to the NBA, and played in the NBA.
And Efe, Gueye is at least as good as, probably better, more talented, athletic, etc, then the college version of Baynes that made the NBA, played in the NBA.
Gueye, Efe equal or better then the freshman Baynes, maybe even Sophomore Baynes.
Junior, Senior Baynes would totally own Efe, Gueye. But that would be a unfair comparison since Efe is a Soph, or Junior at most, and Gueye is a freshman
