Interesting how a kid from an extremely small WA school appears not to even have an offer from WSU, yet is committed to usc.

Wonder if Riley honors it or moves on from him. He has a lot of Pac-12 offers, Utah, Cal, Oregon State. I see it's Clay McGuire that recruited him. Could he return to Pullman if it's Morris as OC?

Napavine in the 2B final in Lakewood tomorrow which the WIAA isn't showing on cable any more.

Tickets $16 for adults, $11 students

Potential right tackle. Not sure his feet are quick enough for left tackle.

I dunno man. His movement isn’t fluid. It looks awkward watching him run. To put him on the edge and have to pass block an edge rusher? Im not seeing it. As a tackle in the Pac 12 you have to block NFL 1st rounder pass rushers. He cant do it.

I’ve not watched enough OL to know if they have the skills to play P5, but the guy also participates in basketball and T/F.
His dad is a former osu baseballer so chances are he ends up a beaver if sc pulls his scholly.

Last note on Napavine OL. Appears the sc writer follows Biggs as he’s questioning McGuire offering this kid too.

OMG, wait for Patrol t6o love all over him because he got an offer from the mighty Trojans.

I stopped questioning McGuire's ability to recruit after Josh Watson. Saw the kid in HS, knew he had some medical issues that weren't publicized. Wasn't a monster. Thought it was laughable when we offered him. He ended up a pretty decent RG for us. After that I gave him the benefit of the doubt on lineman.

I am not an expert, but I have loved football for over 5 decades. Was just an average high school player. Maybe I have learned something, maybe not.

This kid does not look like a tackle to me. His best movement seems to be forward. He looks like a guard. I did not see enough to have a feel for him at center. Might be OK there. But I'm with Biggs on his edge rusher comments. You can't play tackle in the PAC (right or left) if your feet won't let you keep up with an edge rusher and make him take the long way around on the arc. Maybe this kid is better than the film shows. Maybe somebody watched him up close and personal and saw something that eludes me on the film. Maybe I just don't know much. But I don't see a tackle there. Potentially a decent guard. Not a tackle.

get him on campus, see where he fits in. He has the size and the levers, footwork and technique can be taught.

Also seems like when he blocks downfield he hesitates. Finds his man and gets within reach, but then sets his feet and lets contact come to him. There are a couple exceptions in the middle of the film, he makes an aggressive, driving block when he’s got a significant size advantage.

He does look more fluid when stepping back, but I expect a P5 level OL to look more dominant when he’s playing 2B. A couple of instances, it seems like his reach is all that prevents the DE from getting around him. That’s not going to work against greater speed/strength.

I’d want to see how he does in a camp against higher level defenders before I spent a scholarship on him. From this clip I don’t see the basis for his offer list.

What are your opinions on our commitment Seth from Lakewood (smokey point Lakewood). I watched him play and he didn't make a play either side of the ball all night long. Someone who played against him said he was strong, but I want playmakers. What do you all see in his film?

A true P5 lineman wrecks shop in the league. I wouldnt be surprised if he landed at d2. He cant run.

He doesn't have to at that level, but then again- he doesn't have to impress SC in order to get a scholarship. SC has give mediocre for several years now.

In 2B?? At that level a true P5 prospect should be the standout best player on the field. Probably playing both ways.

He looks good, I’d guess he has potential to develop well considering who is interested.

I just hope we continue to invest in the offensive and defensive lines.

the trenches is where the games are really won.

we can get skill players and back 7. Lineman is the hardest thing to do well.

He has to move anywhere he goes. I wouldn't be surprised of its fraud. He cant play.

Kid just tweeted that he has an offer from WSU now. Makes sense with McGuire coming over from SC.

Biggs. I know nothing about this kid and not going to bother doing any homework on him but thought of another kid who was sort of an afterthought, I believe 2* kinda big and slow that nobody thought could play at the pac12 level, Cody O’Connell. Ended up being an all American. What makes you so sure he can’t be developed?

Developing raw or underrated players has been a hallmark of successful Cougar football teams of the past. The new regime will certainly need to recruit talented players and get a fair share of 3 and 4 stars, but I don't mind grabbing a few projects as long as the coaches do a good job of coaching them up.

Glad Cougar

He stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Same here. The one thing about him is that it is just not WSU, and a bunch of small schools, that have offered him. Utah, Cal, Oregon State, Boise State, and of course USC had offered him. They are seeing something that Biggs isn't seeing.

Olson fits your typical Air Raid offensive linemen. He's 6'6", but he is a lot heavier than a lot of kids we have taken in the past, but nothing a few good years in the weight can fix. I think a key offer he has is Utah. Whittingham is a very good talent evaluator, so he if he thinks he's worth a scholarship that says something about him. Not to mention the lord and savior of offensive line coaches, Michalczik himself offered him as well. That right there should put all questions about him to bed. The one thing McGuire did very well the last time he was here was get bodies on campus, we always signed 5-6 offensive linemen a year. Get dudes on campus and let them fight it out for spots.

I watched him move.

If you wanna see what P5 recruits look like running and blocking, watch Dieu and Lohrenz hudl films. Then watch this kid.

For him to be a P5 level talent, it would take a Herculean amount of effort. And then that might not be enough.

Right now, watching him move, he is d2 or d3. Any school offering him is doing so on his size.

Watch the film and tell me. It will take 10 mins to watch all 3 kids.

LOL, I hear you, but is he worthy of a scholarship? Can he play guard? Can he provide depth?

He is not a scholarship player. Moving a guy to guard doesn’t always mean you’re hiding him or he can get away being less athletic. A good pass rushing 3 tech will make plays on a lesser athlete. Ask Leon.

Lincoln Riley took 1 look at his film and now he knows exactly why Helton and staff were fired. SC can make a phone call to ANY OL in the nation and they will listen to their pitch. Why tf are they calling a kid from Napavine HS that cant run?
