Waiting for the Smith can't coach one man brigade to come up with a reason making the coaching change was a bad thing.

We are one win away from equalling last year's effort. With 17 opportunities.

Yeah.......he ain’t talking much anymore

Eh. He's a troll. Always roots for the option which leaves WSU in worse shape.

Hearing Smith get called a doofus makes nights like tonight especially sweet. The guys who made the difference down the stretch and OT (Rapp, Bonton, Williams, and Miller) were all Smith recruits.

Yep. Our very own troll who pollutes most threads he is in, including those about football. I will never forget how he would not use Ken Bone's name. Instead, he would call him a name like an immature child would do. Once, OK, you are trying to make a point. That it went on for years showed how little he is.

Immature name calling is now considered presidential. So Elsie for pres. 2020.

Ok idjits i am and will still avoid dufus and his gang. Just for the record and your wet dreams This season .Ucla has lost at home to Hofstra 88-78,BYU.78-63,Mi State 75-62, and CSFU 77-74 Man that is a group of heavyweights. They for the first time in decades do not have an Mc Donald s AA on their team. They are a raggedy group of leftovers playing for respectability this season. So salivate all you want but be realistic. I promise not to look at any more MB posts But the title of this post was too enticing. Enjoy your misguided antics friends and good bye till next season. I am going back to sleep on this one exhilarating moment. You kids are a funny group looking to justify a 4 mil a year dufus with all the personality of a frog.

See, someone's triggered.

Doesn't this make the win that much better?

The interesting thing to me is that for someone who said that he is avoiding the men's team, comments on the men's team.

I do not want this to come off as a knock on the women's team, as it is not. But, he was writing of moral victories in a loss to Stanford and downplays an actual victory by the men's team. He also is back to calling one of our coaches names, like an immature child again.

I do want to put this disclaimer out, must children I know are more mature than he is.

Seriously why does anyone care what he or she writes . I know completely why he is fully vested in Kent. Kent at one time did really good things at Oregon . He was left with a roster that was going the wrong way. His plan was to recruit athletes that could compete in the Pac 12. He didn’t win enough.

I like what I have seen from Smith so far. But like a poster years ago said Oregon was going to take a step back after chips first game against Boise, (no different than sponge after a few cocktails in Leach’s first game he isn’t going to get it done ) I am more than realistic the team could go on a long losing streak . But even doing so it does appear that there is a set plan in place that now needs to be executed .

I am not sure how much we do really care. Yes we comment in this thread. But, not a lot of us go out of our way to engage him day after day or even week after week. This is the first time in a month or two that most of us have even talked about him.

I find it more amusing and funny.

Personally, I didn't hate Kent. But, he was not successful and it did not appear that there would be success. So, I do believe it was time for him to go. Kent's success at Oregon was mostly in the beginning of his tenure. He had a winning conference record once in his last seven years there. He didn't have one winning conference record in five years at WSU. So, his last 12 years as a P12 coach, he had one winning conference record.

I don’t disagree with you, but the day after a surprising (and historically rare) win over UCLA, long suffering fans don’t want the “dose of reality” perspective. We want to be happy. We’re 10-5 (1-1), and are playing with a lot of fire and intensity, which is precisely what this program needs as we try to dig out of the Kent years.

No one thinks the road back to winning will be easy. But it's clear Smith has injected some life back into the program, which is a good thing to see. For some perspective, we just won a conference game where we shot horribly. We haven't done this in a decade. Ever since Tony left, an off shooting night spelled certain doom. Maybe it was a fluke and we drop the rest of our conference games, but I think not.

Honestly, I haven't watched much basketball the last few years. When I would begin to watch, it wouldn't take long before I stopped again. I don't feel that way watching this team. It doesn't take a genius to see how much better coached they are on defense. Yes, none of us think that they have turned the corner or that they will have a winning season.

Yup, they are just laying the foundation this year and probably the next couple years. Yesterday was a great win but the gap in talent was still huge as it will be most games the rest of the way. Hopefully yesterday got some recruits attention and begins to wake up a dormant fan base especially on the student side.

WSU currently has two open scholarships for next year. I wonder if Miller will get one? Brand X has an article about a JC point guard Rudi Williams that is putting up big numbers that the Cougars have offered.

Plus, I wonder if Daron Henson will enter the transfer portal to seek playing time? He is supposed to be a very good shooter and this team is shooting challenged, so it makes me wonder what is the story.

Seems like Miller would get a scholarship next year but we still need help upfront. When the semester ended and Henson was still with the team I wondered if he was close to finishing his degree and would have the possibility of a grad. transfer after the season. He obviously hasn't been in their plans.

What will Elleby do? Smith has said he was very close to declaring for the draft last year. I think he could still use another year or even 2 but not sure whether he has the patience to not jump. If Elleby stays I could see Cannon opting for the portal if he has the option as well.

Henson reportedly can't/won't play defense. It does seem strange that Smith continued to offer him a scholarship (he was originally offered by Ernie) probably knowing about his defensive shortcomings, but WSU needed bodies on the roster. I'm assuming his spot will be open for someone next year.

Elleby is a wildcard. That the coach that recruited him got fired and there was a period where everything was unknown, it was very enticing for him to leave school. I would assume he would put his name in the draft again to see what the NBA thinks.

I do not think that Henson is with the team next season.

I agree that a big player is needed. Hopefully, Markovetskyy improves a lot the rest of the season and over the summer. It could be a big key for him to get stronger, and faster, plus to know what he is doing. Obogidi can be huge as well.

They had so many open scholarships and were out of campus visits. You are hoping you can coach up the player. So, they still gave him a scholarship. But, some players just do not work out.

Smith didn’t recruit Elleby but he seems to be all in with the new staff. He plays hard and his D has really improved. Still an iffy proposition if he comes back. I think it would be good for him to come back and great for WSU.

Yes, was making the point about last year that there was so much turmoil and unknown after Kent was let go that it would not have surprised me if Elleby would have left. It was a no brainer to dip his toes into the draft, as he did. I agree he is all in with Smith, but his ultimate goal is to be a NBA player.

Elleby looks like an NBA player to me. You gotta think he's going to get a late first or early second round grade after this season and he'll be gone. It's easy to forget how skinny Klay was when he left. Elleby already is a guy who won't get pushed around at the next level. I don't see him turning into a lottery pick in the next few years so he might as well get paid to focus on basketball 24/7.

I don’t see that at all. Not at this stage anyway. Getting drafted into the NBA is one of the most difficult accomplishments in professional sports. I love CJ, but I hope he thinks long and hard about his future after this season before declaring.

I would be very surprised if CJ gets drafted, he will make a lot of money playing b-ball but probably not in the nba

You will be surprised

I don't think we've had a prototypical NBA player since Klay. He had the size and release to stick around for a decade as a three point specialist.
Robo was a little short to play the 4 and lacks the quickness/ball handling to play the wing. He might be able to carve out a role as a stretch 4 in the back of a rotation but it's not a natural fit.
Lacy was slow. Hawkinson lacked the quickness to play D. Motum lacked the muscle mass.

Elleby has the height/quickness/bulk to play the wing in the league. I don't think he has the polish of some of our other stars, but his physical tools (plus his left handedness) will be very appealing in a league which values athleticism above all else. Remember, Elleby had a second round grade last year.

Elleby has already learned more in year 2 of college that will really help him along. He can and does now play defense.
