Wake Forest QB Jamie Newman has entered the transfer portal as a 5th year grad transfer.

6’4 230lbs. 60.9% completion rate for 2,868 yards and 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He provided a dual-threat element too after running for 574 yards and six more scores in 12 games in 2019.

The bad news...Oregon and he are said to have “mutual interest.” Perhaps Leach will intervene?

I watched him play live a couple of times this year. He is a talented QB. I fully expect him to land in Eugene.

Well, he’s a 5th year grad transfer, so he’s earned the right to go somewhere else. Maybe they lose a lot on offense and he doesn’t want a rebuild?

Doesn’t look like a Leach type. Absolutely looks like an Oregon or Utah type.

Exactly. Not an Air Raid QB.

I dont blame a kid for trying to find what they are looking for. Every kid and situation is different. Will be interesting to see how it works out.

Dave Emerick, Spurrier and WSU football twitter all started following him immediately after he entered the portal

Sounds like he fits the Oregon system pretty well. Whether he can last a whole season is another question.

Crystal Balls is wanting UO to establish the run first to set up the pass....and prefers "grind it out" between the tackles offense befitting a former lineman-turned-coach. A capable running QB might not be a bad thing for him, which would fit UO. In fact, it was Herbert's running that helped the Ducks win the Rose Bowl.

Glad Cougar
