No Ula today hurt. Cherilynn Molina probably had her most productive game with 9 & 4 plus 3 steals. She's definitely becoming a key player down the stretch with her quickness and ability to create easy looks off of penetration. Muzet gives us some of the same.
UA started the game on an 11-1 run and ended the 1st quarter up 26-13. Too big of a hole to dig out on the road against a really good team we don't match-up the best against.

You saw the same thing i did in the game. A couple of bright spots.The future looks bright with Bella M and others coming back next year.
Leah Mafua ended up at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado so there must have been some qualification issues. Maybe she bounces back to us in another year but that was a blow to the class. She was just named National Junior College Athletic Association Division 1 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week a couple weeks ago.

The 6'3 recruit who has signed looks like a bona-fide player. i have not heard of any other recruits so far.
I'm not nearly as optimistic.
We lose our 2 best players and I don't see anybody filling those roles. Not as high on Bella as you are.
I am curious to see how Kami recruits. I thought June did a great job of getting good players here. Can Kami do better? I'm not sure...but I hope so.
Bella is really not in shape for D1 basketball. Basketball in her country is undeveloped and she has had to make a big adjustment. She is productive in the 15 mins a game she plays. A year of weightlifting and conditioning will make for a very improved player. I see the Molina production going on at PG. The scoring will have to come from other players stepping up . But i too am awaiting to see how well Tami will recruit.
So far I feel Kami's a better coach and developer but June the better recruiter although it was falling off toward the end. I'm hoping having a full staff in year 2 will start to turn that corner but it's an uphill battle if we aren't going overseas for the bulk of the roster like Daugherty was doing.
That seems to be the early consensus although I didn't follow the June yes as I didn't have Sling and therefore didn't have the opportunity to see every game.
I do question some of her coaching moves.
I would start Subajic and Muzet.
Moluga and Bella turn the ball over/miss easy bucketd too much for my liking...and we need more scoring.
I think Subasic should be given more shots and opportunities...same with Muzet.
They are skilled players who can do some really nice things with the ball.
I should have posted earlier that I am excited as well about Cherilyn Molina.
Well Edwards top recruits last year were Nankervis ,Australia,, Krystal Ledger Walker New Zealand , the juco Mufua NZ stashed in a Colorado Juco and Bella M.The 2020 6'3 recruit is also from overseas. Coach Edwards likes a big inside back to the basket player for her system. As Bella improves and gains experience she will be that player.They also need another bigger wing who can defend other teams wings
I haven't minded Susbasic off the bench lately because Ula's started to finish more consistently inside over the last 4 or 5 games although still lots of missed 3s. I don't understand Shir Levy starting and I think that's part of the reason for the slow offensive starts. IMO Muzet's been their 3rd best player since the start of conference.
Cherilyn has had good minutes the last couple of games especially against UA and they need to get her on the floor more. Last year they barely played anyone beyond the starters and this year I think they have extended it too much. From what I have seen I would go:
Starters: Molina, Muzet, Hristova, Ula, Bella. Rotation: Molina, Subasic, Sarver, Nankervis
i agree , Ula is certainly not the flashy player but she plays physically inside and does not back down despite size differences.The whole team has shot poorly from the 3 point line.
