The lack of defense was what surprised me with Jensen around and having played them last year. All they do is shoot the 3s.
They started to come together last year when Molina took over after Hristova and Brown went out. Molina's coming off the knee injury so probably shaking off the rust and easing her back into it but she's the key. Hristova did have a nice game and wasn't forcing up 3s. I think that's a good sign. Brown looked a bit out of shape to me and the bigs are still a work in progress.
We will see if they can rebound against St. Mary's but an awful start.
Not the start I was hoping for. This team is good and I think once it’s all said and done will take the women’s program to new hieghts for several years. Considering you didn’t know where the game was played I’m assuming you didn’t watch it, so what did you use to make the judgement that the coaching sucked? UC Davis was 25-8 last year and was put out of the NIT in the 3rd round by WSU. In the first round of the NIT UC Davis eliminated Utah out of the PAC 12 so they are no patsy
The coaching has of Judy has always been suspect. She has lost a coaching job because of it. The talent is there and it is experience talent .If a team is going to be a contender in a loaded conference they better be able to beat a Call Riverside on Mars.Judy D has always been able to recruit but i have seen a lot of talent go to waste during her tenure. Last year s NIT run was great and unexpected. We will see how the season progresses
Our men’s and women’s head coaches have almost a mirror image when it comes to careers. Both have long been considered master recruiter who have always been knocked for their on court coaching. Both took a smaller program to the NCAA tournament (Saint Marys andBoise State). Both had success in the PAC and NCAA tournament. Kent 2 elite 8 runs and June with an elite 8 and a sweet 16. Both were eventually fired and ended up at WSU. June has proven she can recruit to WSU and Kent is starting to show signs he can also. Now we just need both of them to quite their distractors and win.
Their history took similar routes as we all are aware.Yes i hope they quiet down their detractors and win. i have always loved the game of basketball. I would love to see both teams make post season tournaments. it is quite unlikely as both the men and women s teams in the PAC 14 are loaded. JD has elevated expectations due to last years' NIT run and her pre season statements. EK has expressed great optimism but has not talked of making a championship run.
One can still recruit the other not so much. WBB is off to a disappointing season so far. You can't talk Pac12 title and then drop the first two games on the road. Lack of rebounding is a problem.
MBB at least came back to win. Flynn in a sophmore slump. Volume shooter he is not.
