The season is over for the cougs.I like the direction the team is headed in under coach Kami. I truly believe that the team may be better despite losing Chenelle and Buckets. it sounds crazy but the younger players will have to step up which they can do. They only have one recruit who i am aware but she is a good one.I see the team being better defensively and the scoring will have to be more evenly distributed. It will be interesting to see who else may be recruited for next year. I guess the question is how many scholarships they have available.

Hopefully it is given to a bigger wing player who can play tough defense and drive the basket.

It’s interesting to me how forgiving fans are in their critiques of women’s athletics compared with men. Looking back on the WSU women’s season, I can’t come up with any assessment other than it sucked. They were 4-14 in league play, and are losing one of their better players in program history, yet the commentary from fans is almost unanimously “way to go ladies!” or “man the P12 is strong” and “I like the direction the program is heading.”

I’m not deliberately piling on the WSU women’s hoop team in particular, but the double standard of fan expectations are, honestly, a telling indictment on how women’s athletics as a whole are still viewed as rec league events by fans.

The standard of women’s athletics at WSU is exceedingly high. Women’s soccer is a Nationally recognized program, volleyball and rowing are upper tier programs. Given that, one would think there would be concern, if not disgust about the continued abysmal performance of the women’s hoop program.

The women s schedulw was one of the toughest in the Nation. They did not load up on cream puffs to assuage their fans that there was improvement. They were competitive in almost all of their games. If they had loaded up on bad teams they may have secured a NIT bid .I am encouraged as individual players have developed their games under this coaching staff.. I will say that falling below.500 on a easy schedule is a worse performance than the women s team was during the year. The PAC 12 women s Conference is seen as the best in the Nation . The Men s Conference is seen as being a weak conference. That said i will continue to avidly follow the women s team during the recruiting period and next year. The WSU women s team is under good hands with Coach Kami. She is a proven winner.

Kami just went 4-15 in conference play including a 25+ point drubbing in the P12 tournament opener. I believe her record at WSU after 2 seasons is 8-30.

Well i have zero interest in the men s side. But consider that the men s team finished 6-12 in a very weak conference .They also have lost 6 out of the their last 7 games and people talk about" promise "and how they like where the program is going. That s like the pot calling the kettle black. That is amusing to say the least. So you continue to back the men s team and i will continue to follow and back the women s team. Both teams need support as the losses pile up.

Right women have always had 15. Current roster has 13 with 2 graduating. They lost the prime recruit last year to a JC. They do have some 2020 recruits.

Some? Only 1 signed. Kami talked about a “big visitor” this winter but I wasn't able to track down who that might be.

I think a grad transfer would make sense but you have to find someone that can play. That has been tough so far.

Yeah I didn't see either on the "big visitor". Thought she had 2 signed in the early period. But guess not.

The prime recruit"lost" to a JC is probably being stashed at the juco in Colorado. If you remember Coach Kami coached at Northern Colorado and knows all the juco coaches in Colorado. So i would not be surprised if the" Lost recruit" ends up at WSU. The "big" recruit is still unknown and recruiting rumors have been quiet.

the expectations are there i am sure that Coach Kami has pretty high expectations herself. Of remains to be seen if they are soon met
