WBK Final: Cougs 89, Colorado 75 (Stats + Highlights + Postgame Pressers)

Good overall game. Hristova was brilliant! Kostkoukova with a good game as well. Molina working her way back.

Need Sunday.

I the absence of a guard who can break down defenses off the dribble, I would like to see Hristova touch the ball on every play. We need to make teams defend her first, to open up space and offensive opportunities for her teammates. Excluding Hristova, we don't have players who create their own shots or can score consistently without a break down on D.

Working her way back? Let's be honest, if Molina was a guy we'd be saying "he needs to toughen up." Injuries happen, you can defeat it of it can defeat you. Conceding your starting spot is not a good sign on the "between the ears" front. She isn't the fearless "little island warrior" any more. Sad!

Maybe you would be saying it, not me. Some players, men and women, never recover from injury. For many serious injuries, sometimes it is the second year back before they are their normal selves.

I didn't see the entire game but Hristova was actually bringing the ball up a lot in the 2nd half. Agree they really must go through Hristova as much as possible. She shot the 3 better than I have seen her shoot it before and is definitely the best player we have at the moment creating her own shot. She also did a nice job getting easy shots for post players. Pavlopoulou can get her shot a bit with mid-range shots, Hailey actually created a couple good late shots but has never been consistent scoring, and Molina showed she has that ability last season.

Molina is still less than a year off an acl. Using a guy as an example Rotchestie had a transfer year before playing and I could see him limping at times his first year playing. Biggest difference I have seen is her shooting. She struggled early last year but eventually came out of it in a big way. She's been really off this year although in the first half against OSU she had a great stretch making shots.

If Molina can get back to close to where she was last year and Hristova can continue the way she played last night they are going to be tough to stop. Also thought Kostourkova played as well as she has since her first season.
