WBK Final: Oregon State 63, Cougs 61 (OT) - Stats

I was watching the Pac 12 Now app (better picture in SD) and the thing stopped after the Kostkourva free throw to make tie it in OT. Not sure how we fouled with barely any time on the clock. Thought it was going to a 2nd OT. We basically had it in regulation. They missed and Washington gets the rebound along the baseline but loses balances. She was tapped but no foul called and she seemed to get lost with what to do. Then they get an easy layup to go to OT.

Brutal loss playing without 3 starters with the suspensions of Hailey, McClure, and Brown (plus McKenzie who retired). We were up big after 1 but went cold in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

McKenzie retired and Fernandez seems to maybe be back in Hawaii. McKenzie clears the spot for the "Twins".

What is the deal on the suspensions?

One of the "twins" seems to have signed a pro contract and the other is not coming . The scholarships should be given to taller longer players who can rebound and play defense. IF JD retires ,they need to clean house and hire a competent coach. If and when players start drinking and getting suspended ,it means the coach has lost the team and they do not care anymore. JD should retire.

Signed with a pro team which is not all that uncommon in Euro ball and doesn’t mean you are NCAA ineligible. However the fact they have not signed to my knowledge anyway would seem to suggest there is a problem. Every team can always use long athletic players by the bucket loads but our team has as many or more of those types of players than most. Brown is a double double threat every night at 6-3 she shoots the 3 and can bring the ball up the court much like Bernstein with less speed, Nike is as long and athletic as any player in the PAC 12 also at 6-3. We also have an abundance of 5-11 and 6 foot girls who are very athletic. Of course if they are suspended they won’t do us much good.

We also have Tayrn Shelly 6-3 Post (Frosh) and Jovana Subasic 6-4 Post. El you know squat about WBB as well as MBB. JD has recruited well and the twins are coming on schedule to replace to 5-8 Senior guards.

They did a great job on Gulic who has absolutely killed us in I don't know how many games I have seen over the last 2 years. Swedlund has her flaws but she really battled down low against much taller and bigger players to help the bigs. Held OSU to 13 points in the first half! Just a poor 2nd and 3rd quarter scoring the ball.

No details on the suspensions although Cindy Brunson commented they were not allowed on the bench (and maybe the building). Doesn't sound like they will be back Sunday or maybe anytime soon.

Brown hasn't seemed to move as well this year for whatever reason and has shot 17% from 3 in conference (29% overall). She's a much better shooter than she has shown this year.

McClure has started to become a force on both ends the last 4-5 games before getting injured against UA and then the suspension.

The twins ,if they come, will play behind the Molina sisters. The players who are suspended may be a symptom of internal dissension and the WBB team needs new coaches. The inside players are being dominated by taller ,longer players and it is certainly not a team strength. Louis Brown was a better player last season but something is wrong with this team.

I saw one and the inside players do not match up well with USC type of players. Obviously watching the coug "bigs" against inferior competition makes one thin that they are top players. Brown has always intrigued me and i have seen bring the ball upcourt, Somehow she has never played up to her potential and perhaps it s coaching?

You do not watch the games obviously
I am getting lost with who is responding to what in this thread.

How good are the twins? Was Elena Tsineke expected to be an impact type guard? How do the twins compare to Cherilyn Molina?

With Pavloupoulou a senior we are a bit light in numbers for ball handlers beyond Chanelle Molina

Yeah why don't you people "reply" to posts? It's really easy.

In other news, Women Cougs lose to Oregon today. Men's loss up next. Thankfully I don't get ESPNU.
