It's up to special teams and it up to Falk stretching the field. Oh, and turnovers, as usual.

This is a huge opportunity for us. I hope we can take advantage of it. Our defense is coming around. Some playmakers are showing themselves. It'll be interesting to see the line on e game.

Agree.

If we come out with the same energy as we did against Cal, we WILL win. They are giving up 37 ppg and scoring 42. They gave up nearly 100 to the trio of EWU, Georgia State and Colorado.

If they encounter the defense we brought yesterday, we won't be favored but I would EXPECT to win.

I think we can beat anyone if we play with the same attitude we had against Cal.

Falk needs to clean up the speed in which he makes decisions...Special teams...no game changing plays to help the other team and we can do it.

It's a team that is indeed getting better, Falk needs to harness that step forward he took against Rutgers and some of the things he did when he was leading drives against Cal. He's got to make that turn. If he does he'll be one of the greats, but until then he's holding his potential back.

When CML arrived we were told by Tech fans we'd be losing games we should win and winning games we should lose.

So far, we've just been losing all our games. I can't wait for the other part to kick in.

That punt fake yesterday was totally unnecessary and just a bad playcall. You're up by 8, you've got Cal on the ropes, they can't get anything going, and you ask your punter to run it 16 yards deep in your own territory on 4th down? Cal doesn't bite AT ALL and swarms him at the first down marker, and of course because he's a punter he coughs it up. Really Mike, what have you seen from your special teams unit in the last 3 years that leads you to believe you've got a pretty good chance of pulling it off here? And given the context up to that point, why does that seem like the right call there? Maybe that worked at the peak of his Tech career, but it doesn't work here yet. We could hang our hat on a lot of things that lost the game for us, but a coach has to put his team in a position to win, and that was really a s--- sandwich for a team that had played their hearts out up to that point.

Yeah I agree in hindsight it's bad, but calling that shows he has confidence in them that they will make it happen. So while it was a poor decision due to the results... If Charme had made it work and hung on to the ball we would say it was brilliant.

As to Win games we shouldn't lose games we should... We aren't losing all our games. We weren't expected to win that game at all. 19 points was the spread... We've beaten plenty of teams that had winning records and obviously had our share of struggles. I think the older the roster gets the better we will be.

Really, the play call was questionable, but you can fix that by not making that play call again.

I'm more concerned that someone decided leaving 15 yards of open field on your return formation was a good idea.

Back to the point of this thread--it's not even a stretch to imagine this team beating the Ducks--even at their ungodly place. The Ducks have regressed that much and we are, despite the glitches, on an upward curve both mentally and physically.

I need to re-watch the Ducks game, but holy crap they haven't looked so limited in a long time. And the defense is ripe for exploiting. Based on what I saw Saturday night (in a post Coug loss IPA haze), shut down Freeman/Griffin and you've virtually eliminated 78% of their offense.
