Disagree. I agree with BYU out muscling us with their O on our D. But we lost by 2. Our offense was not run well most of the first half. It will be an issue the rest of the year with smith and the new assistants. There is no way we should have only scored 3 times.

It was obvious that BYU was going to run ball. BYU ran ball about 5,6,7 times, and didnt pass once.
Why should they. It was working. And even if they stopped, they burn time, trust their defense, and know WSU probably not score.
They are that arrogant, because they probably right.
There was about a 99% chance of run, and 1% chance of pass.
Because of that the WSU coaches should have sold out to stop run, and put 9,10 in box, and dared BYU to pass.
BYU wouldnt have passed, they would have run, not pass, they BYU are that arrogant.
But what does WSU coaches do? They still only put about 6,7,8 in box.
BYU may still have ran for a first down, even with 9,10, 11 in box, but the coaches, still had to, should have sold out to stop the run, put 9,10,11 in box.
And if BYU had passed for 1st down, then so be it.
The coaches should have been able to get players to stop run. Thats not just the defensive players, that was also on a lack of coaching, not selling out to stop run.
It was that, the bad playcalling, the forced fumble that WSU didnt recover, that BYU luckily got back, the unlucky missed extra point, the 2 missed, not called defensive intereference on BYU that killed 2 WSU drives, the not calling holding on BYU OL, all the penalties, where WSU kept shooting themselves in foot, not having Borghi run ball 4 to 7 more times. Not having JDL run it 2,3,4 more times.
In other words bad coaching and extreme bad luck, and bad officiating all combined together Cost WSU the game.
Especially BAD coaching at end. Would have been nice for JDL to have gotten 1 more chance.
And JDL would have gotten that 1 more chance had coaches sold out against run by putting 9, 10, 11 in box to stop the run.

Now one thing he could have done was what Doba didn’t do in 2001 against Oregon and they rushed for 250 yards but next week they play deshaun foster and held him under 70. Went to a five man live and covered everyone up. In that situation I would have put five men in and covered up the center and slanted my lineman .
