Weekend visitor

Since this is Guy William's son, and since Guy William's was a Legacy WSU B Ball player/Alum, and since Smith, is vouched for by So many College Coaches, Ex College/NBA players, NBA coaches, execs, etc, and since Noah Williams is making a weekend trip, to WSU, then it should be a slam dunk to successfully recruit Noah Williams.

If Smith isnt able to successfully recruit Noah Williams, I would question Smith's recruiting ability, which is why I think Noah Williams will go with WSU.

There is absolutely nothing that is slam dunk about recruiting. Kids motivations may have very little to do with parents histories. I recommend you don't judge Smith's long term recruiting prowess based on how he does with one recruit.

That's a fact and it is however important to note that Kent never even got a sniff. So wether the fit is right for the team and the player at least we got an official visit.

Definitely not a slam dunk. He had a UW offer at one time so I wonder if they will still be involved. His older sister was a really good player for the Dawgs, held the school rebounding record at one time.

Why do you think Noah wants to follow in his father? Each kid is different. I hope he makes a good choice, but my daughter picked the UW and her reasons were very specific and she loved the Pullman campus.

It isn't about what the father did, but what the son wants to do.

You all are right that nothing is guaranteed, and that the son may have different motivations.

But it is not JUST or ONLY about just the connection to his father played at WSU. Its the COMBINATION of that, AND him being INTERESTED because he is taking a WEEKEND visit, and because of Smith's connection to USF, and because of Smith's credentials, being vouch for by many PROFESSIONALS, etc.

This is like in Sales, you have a repeat customer, that regularly buys a lot of your product. They call you. It should be a Slam Dunk to get them to buy another whatever product item. It's not guaranteed. They might not buy, your salesman, might blow it, etc.

This is like that. Noah Williams is like that customer. Him visiting is like that customer calling. Smith is the Salesman. Smith SHOULD have a HIGHER, BETTER CHANCE to close the deal, sale.

But it is not guaranteed.

But still if I owned a business, and I had a repeat customer, call, I would be dissatisfied if my Salesman failed to get that customer to buy, or failed in that on a regular basis.

And similarly if coach smith fails to get Noah Williams, it would make me wonder, question, doubt his recruiting ability if that happened again.

I wouldnt judge Smith on one kids decision. Its good Williams is visiting but he may decide WSU is the wrong place and go else where. Happens all the time

I agree. We all know that Drew Bledsoe's dad went to the uw and Drew went a different route. Some people want to be legacy's and others don't. It happens.

It’s interesting. Mac Bledsoe knew what I came to know when I became a parent and it is this- he had his turn, now it is his kids turn and he supported Drew’s decision.

I remember when Doba hired a staff of all Cougs and I thought like others who better to sell Pullman than Cougs. As it turned out Mike Leach and his staff seem to sell it better than those who went there .

Doba just didn't hire the right Cougs. There are guys who could have done a better job than Rosie, Levenseller, Yarno, Greene, and Walker, who had the personalities of a sidewalk.

WSU didn't have coaches who expected to win each week until Leach arrived. The culture is an extension of the attitude of those who are either coaching it or allowing it to happen. I bumped into Coach Yost at church after the 2015 Stanford game. As you may recall, a missed FG cost them the game (as well as more than a few bad calls). Someone said the team had some bad breaks yesterday (programmed Coug response) and Yost cut them off saying the team didn't do enough to win and needed to get better. I'm not surprised this attitude translates into the living rooms of recruits.

Winning sells Pullman. Etown articulted it very well in the above response.

Glad Cougar
