The first recruiting cycle has passed and the cougs did very well. They had signatures from 3 good players. The two jucos 6'7 Henson and 6'2 Murphy have D 1 experience and will contribute next season. The lone HS player 6'10 Nigel Johns has the physical ability to be a transcendental player.. He can be a special player given the right work ethic. training, and coaching. He seems to have the right attitude and seems to be an articulate, intelligent young man with his head on straight. The sky is the limit for this young man. So what s next in the recruiting wars? The cougs short list has two high school point guards , 6' 0 Pierre Cockrell and 6' 1 Scotty Pippen Jr .They also have 6'7 Walter Talley and 6'7Jamon Kemp who are HS wings on their short list I believe that all of these guys may be waiting for "bigger name" schools to come calling. The cougs staff may be able to convince two of these young men that their is a bright future for them in Pullman. If i had my druthers i would pick Kemp and Pippen who look like their best basketball is ahead of them . There may be other players who we are not aware of.

Is Jamon Kemp Shaun's son? I know Shaun was at the Oregon-WSU football game so I'm assuming he was there with his son.

We used 3 of the 4 we had to give so somebody transfers to sign more than 1 more in the spring.

Johns' upside made the class to me. Good size and athleticism we are definitely missing. Hopefully he's played some AAU because it's going to be quite a jump in talent. Murphy looks like he could step right into Daniels spots and hopefully has a bit more scoring potential. I'm not sure Henson is much more than a long ranger shooter at this point.

Jamon Kemp is Shawn Kemp's son. He's not as explosive as pops but pops was a rare package. In a couple shots in his highlights next to Elleby and Brandon Roy he actually looked shorter than both so he's probably more likely in the 6'5" range. Still good size for a 3 although seems a bit raw offensively but no doubt a good prospect for us.

Would be nice to add a legit PF and/or PG but we probably should just take best available regardless of position. . I am hoping another PG comes into the picture in the spring. Cockrell and especially Pippen, Jr. look like reaches for the Pac 12.

I think Murphy can contribute from day one. The other two I feel will take a little more time. The upside of Johns is very intriguing since we don’t ussually have guys of his size and raw athleticism in one player

I think that Pippens is improving rapidly. His athleticism and talent seems to be on an up wards slope. The cougs can use a frosh PG to either redshirt or ride the bench and learn.I think that Cockrell has other D1 offers. However i think that he may not improve much from what he is now. I really like Johns and he seems to be an intelligent young man with a high basketball IQ. I feel he will be an early surprise next year.It looks like Kemp seems to have the athleticism of his father although in a smaller package. In his interviews he states that all of his brothers have grown a couple of inches after high school I like their potential and feel they have been undervalued at this point in their careers.
