CJ if he were to leave would be a last pick of 1st round at ultimate extreme best ro bottom of 2nd round to undrafted, but immediatly signed free agent at worst as a Ultimate High Risky Gamble Flier pick.
I know Elleby's game against Colorado, and games like it; might make you think he would be a 1st rounder, or that he doesnt need another year to work on his offense.
But Elleby has not been CONSISTENT ENOUGH by NBA standards for the NBA to draft him in tbe 1st round.
Elleby needs another year to consistently do what he did vs Colorado, in almost every game next season.
If he does that next season, he would get drafted 1st round next season.
NBA will tell him this
Because of that Elleby is staying, not leaving, for at least another 1 more year.
I'll be surprised if he comes back, even though I think he should. If he is projected to be drafted in either round, 1st or 2nd, he's gone. Period. Even if he's not a guaranteed draft pick, he still may leave and pursue an International pro career. 1st division players overseas earn over $20,000/month, and for many kids, that's too good to pass up. Staying for another season may not do anything to improve his draft stock.
Staying won’t improve his draft stock & ultimately could hurt it. I’m really hoping it works out for him. Seems like a great kid.
He has a ton of room to grow and could help it immensely.
He is getting actual coaching now.
Truth is that whatever CJ decides is good with me. Suspect it depends on how much fun he is having in school and with the team. Sure would be nice to have him another year.
