Used to be where 4 star qbs went to die. Add 5 star qbs to the list too.

Nice work uw.

The moment was just too big for him. Will need a lot of time with the sports psychologist this summer. Not really fair, but honestly loved every minute.

Stupid move to play him. I called 3-4 picks if they did. Morris is not great but would have given them a better chance. I’ll take it after the block headed coaching we have had to endure in this game.

I'm not sure that Morris would have given them a better chance; he may have thrown just as many picks.

I think they were hoping for a "Ryan Leaf first AC" sort of performance, but the kid didn't have at least parts of a couple of games under his belt...or did he? I was under the impression that this was his first extended play game?

That is the problem with assuming ability based on someone's last name.

Kennedy Catholic is one of those loaded HS’s with a great offensive line and 3 D1 receivers to make him look better then he was. He’s got talent but was way overrated.

Guys

Not a secret…….the State of Washington HS kids are oversold. It’s a moneymaking operation for grown adults in the Seattle area to hype these kids. And I’m not just talking about the infamous “businessman” there’s multiple others that have their hands in parents pockets. These dudes watched what other adults did with the HS Basketball players years ago and have done the same with football. The only greedy oversight is the hoops kids were actually elite Power5 prospects for the most part.

Can you save this and repost this every time this discussion happens?

It wasn't a stupid move, it was a sleezy, Tyee Club driven decision. Gregory had no choice, and it was a disgraceful slap in the face to Dylan Morris and every kid on their roster. They started the 3rd string QB because of his last name. That type of alumni bullying is the #1 reason why Chris Peterson stepped down.

Wanna bet Morris is in the portal soon?

Yes, it is of the belief that Morris won’t be on the roster next Spring/Fall.

Could be today. He has plenty of years left. He will have plenty of teams calling. There is no reason to stay and fight for a starting job that is just not going to be open.

Yeah starting that kid was crap. The kids on that team know that Morris gave them the best chance to win, even as small as that chance was. I told my wife at the start of the game the inexperienced qb would throw at least 2 picks , if not three. She kept wanting a pick-6 all game long and got it at the end. It’s sad and brutal for the husky kids to see that the zombies are running the joint and that it’s not based on talent and who can best get the job done. That said, they look like a complete rebuild. Goody for us.

UW has some talent on the roster. Should not be a rebuild. But I have faith in the UW admin to pick the wrong HC. Somebody polarizing, with minimal people skills or flexibility, who will drive a dozen or more good kids into the portal and make a bunch of noises about having to recruit new kids to fit his own system. Sort of the first 2 years of Wulff. This is the UW; if the new guy has some good recruiters on staff he will eventually have the kids to fit both his system and his temperament. But there will be at least 2 more lost years to go with this lost season. And UW is not the sort of school that can easily overcome 3-4 seasons of irrelevance, let alone have a booster group who will sit still and shut up while a coach builds something (especially if it probably did not need to be rebuilt in the first place).

Our worst nightmare is if UW hires a player's coach who keeps a more strict disciplinarian OC, DC or both and who at the same time brings on some good recruiters. That would be formidable at the Ewe. Fortunately, we have the current UW AD and Pres. With someone who actually had talent at those positions the future could look very different. We'll see if they can find the ghost of Woody Hayes somewhere....or even Don James, for that matter.

These two cats were supposed to resurrect the program. At least according to dog fan Twitter.
He definitely looked like Peyton Bender out there. Not sure how he got rated 5 stars but I suspect the last name on his jersey had something to do with that.

He had a Grad assistant as his position coach.

IIRC, he played this spring for Kennedy in the WIAA/WEA/Inslee joke of a football season.

That said micromanaging his usage so he can still redshirt, means he was never ready.

I was at the game, so it was hard to analyze, but it seemed like a lot of drops by UW. But also a couple of miracle catches. Did it seem like the receivers were not really that invested, or was it more off target throws? If the team was really not behind the switch, then maybe a few dropped passes is how they show it.

Of course, being out of synch with a new QB ends up being the same difference...

some drops. Some were ducks that were up and in or up and away. He also hit some Cougs in stride too.

I feel bad for the kid. Just like I felt bad for Drew Bledsoe after the the 1990 55-10 Apple Cup. Both were screwed over by bad coaching calls. Garcia and Gossen were both ready to go, and better options at that point, we were coming off two blow out losses, but Price kept throwing Drew to the wolves. Don't know whether Huard will be any good "long term," but Bledsoe struggled to regain "the swagger" through most of the rest of Coug career after his baptism of fire. In a pre protect the QB era, no Cougar QB ever got hit as hard and as often as in that Apple Cup.

Huard's receivers did him very few favors. Had they caught all of the relatively easy balls, the score would not have been nearly as lopsided. I also agree with SoCal; Drew took a beating in the game he played. However, how that impacted him going forward is pretty hard to parse.
