Assuming we lose only one more game this year,

An Oregon win or
A UW win?

Alternative question- Who do you want to win the game tomorrow?

An Oregon win helps us more because it gives the Huskies a Pac 12 loss. We have 1 loss in the Pac 12 they have zero so far.

So if the ducks win then Oregon, UW, and us all have 1 loss.

Now obviously we want to beat them both, and if we do that’s 2 losses for both and we win the North, pending we beat Stanford as well.

This is better than hoping for the tie breaker to get by them.

Plus it’s always nice when they lose.

The only way I can see a UW win tomorrow as helping us is if we beat UW and Stanford beats them and we lose only one more. Not sure Stanford can do that.

I hope Oregon wins.

Tron lays it out, we need Oregon to win. I can’t stand either program and or most of their fans, so this one is tough for me. What I really detest is a bunch of grown adults standing around with their hands together , forming an effing toilette seat. Just dumb !! Wish they both could lose this one.

Sorta would depend who we lose that one game to. I always want UW to lose though.

Just based strictly on our next game, I want Oregon to lose. They don't need any of the momentum of beating the Fuskies prior to coming to our place. A loss will firmly cement them in their rightful loser mentality heading to Pullman and we can mercifully finish the job for them.

Tron is correct on the conference scenario, but I'm going to sit back and enjoy the game with the knowledge that someone will have 2 losses by the end of the day. WSU will have the chance to give each of them another conference loss before the season is over.

Glad Cougar

Things seldom work that way. Momentum is not really a thing. Look at Utah. They lose to us, their second loss in a row. So, they should have lost to Stanford the next week on the road, right?

Instead, they blew out Stanford and yesterday they blew out Arizona.

If the Ducks lose to the uw, maybe they are a wounded animal and pull out all stops like OSU tried to do against the Cougars. Our game becomes a must win for them if they want any chance to win the P12 north.

I think that since this is such a huge game for them, if they win, it is possible that they have a sleight emotional let down next week.

Under this scenario we have to root for Oregon. UW is the only one in the north without a conference loss. This assumes we’ll have two, and we’ve still got the chance to hand one to UW, Stanford, and Oregon. So the only way we assure ourselves a piece of the North - and a tiebreaker win - is if UO beats UW and our one loss is to Colorado or Arizona.

Bad thing is that CU and UA are so late in the season, those losses would have a serious impact on where we ended up. Might work better if we lose to Stanford, who then loses to Cal and UW. That creates a potential multi-team tie in the north, but we own all the tiebreakers. We finish 10-2, and after losing to the trees we go 4-0 with 2 wins over ranked teams. That should negate the impact of the Stanford loss and keep us in the top 12. Beating USC in the PAC-12 championship negates one loss and puts us into the top 8, and then thumping Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl gives us a top 5 finish. Not bad for a rebuilding year.

But...none of this happens if our D doesn’t step it way up. Right now we have a top 5 offense and a barely top 50 defense. That might be enough to keep us in the top 25, but it won’t get us to 10-2.

What helps the Cougs most is that we continue to win. The UW / Oregon game makes no difference to us. We play them both at home and we should beat both of them if we’re gunning for the championship.

Personally, I’d rather see UW win because I dislike Oregon more. I’d rather Apple Cup be for all the marbles.

Go Ducks! Here's hoping both Browning and Herbert get knocked out of action for the rest of the season. :)
