as ROY on their 2020 bingo card? Long ways to go, but I’ll admit when I’m wrong and I did not see that coming. I thought he was going to be garbage in the NFL and a waste of a first rounder.

IDK. Jury is still out. I’m a completions % and win guy.
Jury may still be out to some extent but I think we’ve seen enough to know he’s not going to be Leaf or Jamarcus Russell. He’s shown more in game three than I expected to see by season three. Either Oregon had some trash QB coaches, SD has some miracle workers or both.

He always had the physical attributes to be successful in both college and the NFL. I think Cristobal, and Taggart before him, preferred to emphasize the running game a bit more and kept the passing game relatively conservative. But he absolutely has benefitted from whatever instruction he's been getting from the SD coaches. Nonetheless, his team is still 1-4 right now (2 OT losses to good teams) although I admit he's looked really good so far.

Glad Cougar

I thought he would a good pro. Oregon ran the wrong system for his talent. Dude has a really strong arm. I wasn't aware how strong it was until I watched him this season. Great get for San Diego.

I agree with this. After watching him throw last night, I was super impressed with the amount of velocity he threw with. The ball comes out of his hand like it was shot out of damn cannon.

I have (presently unused) Chargers season tickets. I have to admit that I thought he was not ready for big time, at least in his first year. But when Tyrod went down and Herbert had to step in with minimum notice, he did well. Sure, there were the usual rookie mistakes...trying to do too much, not recognizing when he should simply throw it away, occasionally getting fooled regarding the coverage that was being shown. But at this point, as my wife (another Coug) said Sunday night, we will be a force next season. He looks that good at this point.

Chargers fan? A little trivia for you crazy that you may or may not have known...
Legendary Chargers coach Don Coryell was the HC at Wenatchee Valley College early in his career. :)

That conference of community colleges had some very competitive..and tough...teams back in the day. Fun to watch as a kid in the 70's.
