Who will be the first commit?

OK here is my guess.Since i am guessing i will say either Jamon Kemp or Pierre Cockrell? I really do not know the status of any the potential recruits and if any of them have scheduled visits .So these are a complete guess off the top of my head. I would say James Hampshire but i do not know if he has been officially offered.

I really like Tsohonis and he is really the best of the PG s the cougs are currently recruiting. However USC and ASU are recruiting him hard. Also he is an Oregon guy and Oregon is now interested. He is a 6'4 PG with very good skills. I saw a interview and he said that playing time and the relationship with the coaches are the most important things to him Perhaps there is a chance?

A lot of "dropped from consideration" around the Pac 12 over the lat little bit. On to list "B" (which is usually some from our list "A").

I hope that the players contacted early have formed a great bond with the staff.. If so there is a good chance they end up signing with the cougs

I know things are different than years ago, but I still think it is important that we get a couple of commits in the early signing period. Thats the best indication we are getting our "A" list guys.

I don't exactly know what you mean by different but I still think signing high school players in the early signing period is a priority. We have barely closed anyone over the last 3 years. I believe the last 3 classes we signed 2 high school players in the fall in Acquaah and Elleby. I was personally happy with both but 2 in 3 years is awful. Has to be easily the worst of any P5 program in the country.

Really happy getting Kunc in the spring but can you depend on lightly recruited kids that reclassify every year? We need to sign a couple targets and at this point it's anyone's guess whether we land even one this year.

I guess what I meant by different is that a lot more kids wait till spring than was the case 10 or15 years ago. Still, the best indicator that a player is s priority is early signing

I wasn't really aware a lot more kids wait until the spring. Honestly, I was surprised Elleby didn't wait until the spring but I think that speaks to the connection he and his family had with Ed Haskins. Hope there are more.

We need 3 solid or better recruits in the fall. I believe that would leave 1 open and we know history tells us that will most likely grow.

It seems to me that there are two types of players that will wait until spring. Some of the super talents that can sign anywhere at any time and the leftovers that are taken by teams that have no choice but to take someone. We've been living with the latter since Ernie got here. The early signing period has to be the backbone of your program unless you're a Kentucky or Duke. You may catch lightning in a bottle once in a while in spring, but not often, and certainly not often enough to be a winning program.
