Why would Caleb Williams come back this year instead of moving on to being a high NFL draft pick?

Because getting drafted to the Bears or Carolina can be a death sentence for a career. Guys are wising up to where they land and how it affects their career.

Not a first rounder, but where do you think Gardner Minshew is at if he’s drafted by the Pats or 49ers? Probably starting as a game manager. Since he played for the jags he hasn’t got an honest shot at growing with a team. He’s bounced around between, marginal to bad teams. Your starting point and that teams quality is everything for a QB.

Okay, but we have how many players across the country sitting out of bowl games due to the possibility of getting injured?

Why leave? NIL must be millions and he has a decent O line, good wR’s and plenty of press in LA. A decent gig, if you can get/maintain it.

Because you’re 1 year closer to the $70-80M a year NFL contract that Williams will get in his 2nd contract. $2-3 mill is nice in college when you couldn’t get it before. The rookie contract will still be better than that for the #1 pick. The 2nd contract is the gold mine. All of these guys believe they can come in and turn the panthers or the broncos into a Super Bowl contender. To be this good at this level you have to be that kind of competitor. I wouldn’t want a QB who didn’t want to play for a team that has been shitty. Would be a huge red flag IMO.
