Rumored to have applied are and whom I would let in: +USF, Memphis, Tulane, SMU, SDSU, UNLV, CSU.

West Division:
UW
WSU
UO
OSU
Cal
Stanford
SDSU
Utah

East Division:
ASU
UA
SMU
UNLV
CSU
Tulane
USF
Memphis

ASU and UA probably would complain, but the conference could span multiple time zones and create good match ups overnight.

Radio guys are like vultures hovering over the league, picking and choosing which teams go where and who gets left behind; it's brutal.

MWC teams are not coming unless there's a huge infusion of money, as they all have buy outs of $20M+. I guess the math works if we sign a deal for $40M+ per team, but my magic 8 ball says the Pac is ****ed.

Is it still called the Pac-12 if this happens? 🤔

As silly and outlandish as that 16-team league appears, just glance over at the B12 and you'll see a similar blueprint. The SEC and B!G are in a league of their own with regard to fan interest, convenient geography (outside of LA), and most importantly, media revenue. The Big12 and P12 are in situations where they're going to have to take chances on memberships and think outside the box.

I've always disliked the idea of UNLV joining the P12, but putting past biases aside, NOT having Las Vegas in our league seems like a mistake. Without the LA teams, having the cities of Las Vegas, San Diego, and Dallas join us makes a lot of sense.

we'd get to 16 teams in a few years is my guess. Back to 10 next year, but move up to more.

Well since the MWC has a $4 million/team media deal, and ours should approach $30 million, I think they can afford it.

As far as the original post in the thread, No, no, no and no on SMU Tulane and especially Memphis and USF (I mean really?). SDSU, UNLV and CSU. Keep us out West, get back to 12 and tighten our belts. This isn't just about Football. You want the VB, Soccer, Baseball, Basketball teams having to fly to Tennessee, Florida and Louisiana?

None of the other P5 programs care about travel logistics. SMU makes a lot of sense for the P12 South.

Apparently not, although FUSC/FUCLA will pretty much be the farthest flung of any Power 5 team. I still can't get my arms around the whole chase the almighty $ thing. As I posted in another thread, you can't tell me that FUSC and FUCLA don't have shitloads of money. I hope they get waxed in the Big 10, and pretty much think they will. Just like Nebraska. Or A&M and Missouri in the SEC. I mean I can see a "poor" team like our Cougs jumping for a big payday, but teams that are already rich?

I could live with SMU, but no farther East than that.

The "distance" isn't what it used to be.

Besides faster travel, people have jobs with different times... easier schedule adjustments depending on profession.

The real measurement here isn't as much about attendance as it is TV contracts.

Hell... as long as it *ucks over certain schools and really doesn't penalize us... I would have no problem with a rotating conference schedule where 3 games happening all in 1 day at 1 location. Have our own conference double elimination playoffs. I don't care.

All I care about now is figuring out what's best for WSU and *ucks over the fuskies.

Your post confuses me.. What does people with different timed jobs have to do with anything?

And 3 games in one day at one location? Where is that coming from?

What is best for WSU does not involve traveling clear across the country to play games, particularly in the minor sports.

You don't need to have these schools be members for every sport

Well the common sports I think yes. I mean the Cougs have the minimum number of teams to be in the PAC. Yeah Stanford has twice as many. But football, basketball, volleyball, baseball at least. What am I missing? Otherwise, why call it a league?

People now can "remote" in from anywhere more than before. Jobs aren't the old "9 - 5"

Watching late games... far away games... cell phones are TV's.

I'm telling you if we had all these other schools in the conference and we had Oregon State vs. Rice... WSU vs. SMU... Colorado State vs. Cal all down in Dallas on the same Saturday or in Vegas... or San Diego...

It would work

They all work for the west coast.

A 10pm game for people who have been drinking since noon, not so much.

Oh yeah. and the otherwise home teams and their cities (aka Pullman) would love having no fans, no local game weekend revenue, no hotel rooms and no gameday concessions, etc. C'mon buddy.

We could have games from Dallas TX... 11:00 and 3:00 and 7:00

Easy peasy
So you are proposing we intentionally set up for having a cluster**** of major proportions? To start with, you are going to need at least a five hour window for each game. Need to allow for traffic in and out, time for the teams to warm up and set up all their equipment (think 1 hour), some minimal stadium cleanup (how excited would game #3 fans be if there wasn't?), allowance for games that drag out and/or overtime.

And how many fans would actually BE there for those 3 games? You are suggesting that at least 5 teams (likely 6 teams) play away games on one day in a distant city for a league game. Really, are the fans going to be excited about that? NFW! Just take a look at how many fans currently travel to away games. I'm sure the Dalls Cowbys and LV Raiders stadiums will look and sound great with about 10-15,000 there for a game. NOT!

I'm telling you... making a different MEGA OUTING with other events like State/County Fairs... Cruises... Nascar Races...

We need to be thinking outside the box.

We will fail with a lesser product simply doing the same as others with a better product.

You can't tell me doing this once a season RUIN what little we already have.

Hell... flip around the other way and do it in November in the shit weather run.

Cry babies from the wet side always looking for a softer mattress

What's sad about the whole affair is that doing nothing is the worst route. The dark part of that is from where I sit, it feels like UW and Oregon have decided to take over USC and UCLA's role of rejecting everything because they want the ability to jump to the B1G if the offer comes. We can talk all we want about what we should do, but when our conference partners are intentionally scuttling the ship, there's nothing WSU can do about it.
