I was wondering what the reaction would be reg the officiating. I thought outside of the catch/interception (spot) and maybe the non-first down spot the game was officiated really well. Wisconsin doesn’t seem to be able to execute their run game without their OLine tackling guys…and it was called. We don’t seem to cover the deep ball well without interfering…and it was called. Will be interesting to see. Close loss at home against a team you're supposed to boat-race....not good.
Refs, play calling, etc
Rest assured there will be little to no credit given to an outstanding effort from the Cougs.
A lot of that "self destruction" was due to the relentess hustle and hard tackling by the Cougar defense. WSU earned it.There’s not much to say. They outplayed us between the 20s, but self destructed. We’ve been there.
Gotta give credit where it’s due - defense brought it todayA lot of that "self destruction" was due to the relentess hustle and hard tackling by the Cougar defense. WSU earned it.
Glad Cougar
The fans in the stadium handled this game with a lot more class and restraint than I’ve experienced from our fans in Martin Stadium. Our fans could take some notes.
Haven’t looked at their message boards though.
Great game. This is clearly a defensive lead team. The D is very well coached.
I thought Jenkins gave us a spark on offense.
Regarding the officiating, I wonder if Dickert chewed them a new one because they held on every play in the first half and didn't call it...and it wasn't subtle,, either.
Walden would have had a field day.
I liked how we came out after halftime. Showed some spark.
What a great win

Dickert to Wiscy? Wouldn't surprise me in the least if we surprise everyone and get to 9-10 wins either this year or next.I am a bit sadistic when we beat another team (especially when it is really unexpected 😀...then it even more fun).
I listened to their radio pregame show. I think it's fair to say they had a quiet confidence about the game going in. Why wouldn't they? I don't recall them understanding that our d line is a strength. They were, however, well-aware of Stone and Jackson...but not necessarily the other talent and experience on the line.
After they lost, I was looking at one of their message boards (sbn). They were savaging their own line for their performance. They were split on our defensive speed...and there was the usual lamenting about not adjusting their game plan as we sold out to stop the run. They were happy with Mertz, which seems right as he had a solid game.
Typical fan base after a brutal loss. Though they didn't seem to respect us any more than before the game for the most part. There were a few exceptions.
Many railed on Chryst and wanted him fired. Some were ready to hire Dickert now. Preview of things to come?
