The women had Colorado on the ropes. Tired and demoralized. Then the overcoaching started. Trying to take the air out of the ball ... with a 30 second shot clock ... with 6 minutes left. There were several times we had numbers, only to pull the ball back out to run clock, exchanging a high percentage scoring opportunity for a low one, because we aren't a half court offense. When you are being pressed hard, as we were, and you beat it, as we did... it is dagger time. Instead, it was allow the Buffs to a second bite at the apple, to regroup to play half court D.

June look in the mirror, be honest with yourself. Game management isn't your strength June, these girls will run through walls for you, that is fanastic, but it is time to give them and that commitment some help. It is time to hire a technical coach, to aid you in game management ... please ... please. Surely you know that it is a weakness!

Coaches tend to do that and it drives me crazy. They change the tempo and momentum. yet they continue to take control of the game.. It is more a philosophy of trying not to lose then a kick butt attitude. The coaches can screw up a game.

Should have been a more comfortable win for us. In Boulder CU came back from something like 16 down in the 4th quarter by pressing and turning us over. They tried to do the same in Pullman and almost pulled it off last night. The turnovers and horrid free throw shooting probably cost us 4 conference wins this year.

Breaking a press, free throws, misses at the basket, and poor rebounding are all things that are correctable. Needs to happen because in terms of talent this is at least a WNIT team this year and a Tournament team next year.

Swedlund, Hailey, and Pavlopoulou had quality games to lead the way but Kayla Washington really impressed me last night. She had 12 points on 6-8 shooting and 9 boards in 17 minutes. She's a stat stuffer, plays with great energy, physical, and easily the most aggressive player we have on the boards. She's a 'glue' player.
