Hate to say it, but even on tv you can see Ernie is within an eyelash of losing this team

It is what is though. It's obvious things are unraveling. Not what you want to see against the mountain schools because it's not going to get any easier moving forward.

Is it a bad sign when the TV crew starts talking about anything other than the game with 15 minute to go in the 2nd half?

Can we check to see if Dick Bennett will come out of retirement again?

What if you demote Ernie to assistant. Continue to pay him while promoting an assistant to interam HC until his contract expires. Maybe out of pride he would resign.

Didnt play great, but guys played hard the last 15 minutes. Elleby 20 the second half. Kunc looked pretty good

ernie needs to resign, he has already lost them the team is lazy and undisciplined, and will go winless the rest of the way

No. He needs to leave the bench and be assigned to Puget Sound as a fundraiser. He’s actually quite good at it from what I hear.

Helps offset his salary/buyout.

Full on rat ball!! Elleby is playing for Elleby not WSU! Let the player drive around you then try the reach around junior high trick and stay at half court after it fails. Are you kidding me?? Not to mention standing at half court with your hands on your hips while an opponent goes down and dunks. Kent has lost this team.

The mens basketball team was lost the day Bill Moos announced Ernie's hiring.

Super nice guy. Aside from his well-known Mexican vacation, I don't think he's a jerk or mistreats the players or anything - but he's getting paid $1.4 Million per year for dreck?!?

There's lots of nice guys who could wear nice suits and repeatedly lose. Hell, I'd do it for, say, $600K per year. And I'd win more games than CEK and they Cougs would play better ball.

Ray ball? Or AAU ball?

I've seen waaay better disciplined AAU teams who defend with much better fundamentals and scheme.

In the 5th grade league.

I remember watching the WSU-UO game at Beasley in Tony's last year with Ernie coaching the Ducks. It was clear to me that the Ducks had quit on Ernie and their effort was pathetic. Cougs beat them 67-38 in that game and UO went on to finish the season at 8-23 and 2-16 in conference play. Several players transferred out of UO at the end of that year and EK was fired after the next season. He may be at that point now in Pullman. It really looks like this program is just circling the drain.

Glad Cougar

F that. Put him on the custodial crew. Or grounds crew.

Although in reality, I suppose his contract says something about being the basketball coach as his duties. Maybe these coach contracts ought to start being "personal service" contracts or whatever you lawyers call them - where you get paid to do whatever you are told? 100% other duties as assigned?

I don't know that I agree he is a nice guy. He's a TV evangelist on a basketball court. I guess they come off as nice guys, but I don't know when they just want to get to your wallet.

I wouldn't waste much time arguing that possibility.

Point being, he has other 'skills'. Coaching basketball in 2019 is not one of them.
