I have confirmed Kobayashi has left the program. As you might recall, he signed with Cal out of high school, but left there and decided to walk-on at WSU.

Not surprised. His name was never mentioned by the coaches. They Cougars are loaded at receiver and he was unlikely ever to see the field. Good luck to him.

I dont understand these kids leaving right now. Makes me question who is giving them advice.

Makes sense to me. This is what happens at good programs, the guys who think they should be up the depth chart but never pan out leave for playing time somewhere else.

The bigger picture is.....

If you are gonna be a Walk-On WR now at WSU, you best be willing to sit, sit, wait, wait, work extremely hard on scout and be patient. Once you get a shot 2nd half of Junior or start of senior year, catch everything and block your ass of in Lewiston.

Might as well go to a JC then.

Or more so, who isn’t giving them advice. Many of today’s parents are afraid or unwilling to offer guidance to their children. “Oh, whatever you decide dear. If you want to transfer for the 3rd time in three years, follow your heart.”

Basically in spring / midnight maneuvers the writing may be on the wall (field) about the chances of playing / earning a scholarship.

There is only so much eligibility time
There is only so much paying your own way financial burden time

That people can take. It’s an unfortunate part of the Division I power 5 collegiate level landscape.

Remember there are only 11 players on the field at a given time for a side of the ball.

A two deep is just 22 players a 3 deep is just 33 players.

In the WR landscape (where we actually have 4 on any given play) a 3 deep is just 12 guys.

Tay Martin
Easop Winston
Bell
Calvin
Harris
Patmon
Calvin Jackson
Arcanado
Fisher

Are all guys who are on the team and have caught balls in games.

That’s 9 guys right there. So for a 3 deep there are also...

Kassidy Woods
Billy Pospisil
Brandon Gray

That’s 12.

Now to actually be in the 3 deep you have to be better than those 12....consistently, and hope you can earn a scholarship

Not saying it’s impossible, but you

A) have to be extraordinarily determined
B) and be extraordinarily patient to wait to get your shot. Could take 2/3/or even 4 years...

And you have to pay your way through the process.

A guy like Taylor Comfort did it and got the glory at the end so it IS possible, but not everybody has the heart and will that Taylor Comfort has.

Wow,,, where do you live ??? It's the complete opposite in my experience. It's actually all about what the parents think and want these days the two states i bounce between and it's the kid that's saying "Oh, whatever you decide mom and dad".
