Wichita State that is. Apparently rampant transfers are the thing these days. Three guys are leaving the Wichita State program and they are down to five scholarship players for next season.

Yup and they are going after a couple of players the cougs are currently recruiting, But they have signed 6 new players and is an impressive recruiting class. So they really only have one to two spots left,

Gregg Marshall shows what could have been for WSU if Bennett would have stayed. He's reached the point where his new recruits are good enough to compete at a high level right out the gate even if they are notch below the KU, Duke and Kentucky type players.

That assumption may be true. However the Bennetts skedaddled at the first chance they got. They did not check the rear view mirror as they left Pullman

Its been a week since Flynn announcement. Any thoughts on when it is safe to say we can avoid mass exodus

I really do not expect a "mass exodus" .The assistant coaches are talking about the first wek of training. I believe the "mass exodus" exists more in the minds of Kent haters" than it does in the players

Hopefully that's the case. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the spring plays out recruiting and otherwise.

FWIW, another Shocker basketball player announced his transfer yesterday. The 4 players returning with experience accounted for about 11 percent of the minutes played this past season. It's interesting to see how contagious the transfer bug can be, regardless of the situation. Gregg Marshall is very well respected and few teams have been as successful as the Shockers in the past 6 or so years.

Flat, what is the reason for Wichita State's exodus? Any idea?

They had a lot of guys graduating so some attrition was expected and another player declared for the draft. The other four guys leaving are a bit of a mystery considering the opportunities to get playing time. Austin Reaves, the guy who declared yesterday, was a key reserve who played about 20 minutes per game. No official explanation yet.

Some people here might call it a dumpster fire. Players leave for a myriad of reasons. I am not familiar with the Shockers to know why, The coug players also left for a number of reasons. Flynn is leaving because he thinks he is better than he really is. He was handed the keys and made the most of it for him personally. If he transfers to a top school he may earn some bench time for his efforts The only real unforeseen loss for the cougs this year is Flynn. Franks left so he can make some money. The others left for more playing time. A player declaring for the draft is commonplace these days

It looks like 2 of the departing players were walk-ons and they signed 5 players in the fall. Austin Reaves has had 22 teams contact him since announcing his transfer.

One of our problems is not getting much recruiting done in the fall. Two years ago we had 2 JCs signed and this year only 1 player. A really good fall signing IMO in CJ Elleby but a one player fall class. Having to wait until the spring leads to all the reaching on players. Some work out while probably a lot more we need to recruit over.

I actually like the players who have signed. It is way too early but Kunc may be a virtual steal, especially if he grows a bit. I really like Elleby and the PG can help as he is team player who can concentrate on distributing the ball. Last year, the cougs had too many players all looking to shoot the three pointer and few trying to make plays for other players most of the time. The fall recruiting problem is probably solved as staff reassignments and a departure will be for the best
