WSU-USF scrimmage

A tidbit from Brand Y in a story about Ed Haskins. Apparently Kyle Smith and his San Francisco team came to Pullman for a closed door, unannounced scrimmage against the Cougars before last season and beat the crap out of them. Sure, it was only a pre-season scrimmage....similar to the one WSU played vs. Montana prior to this most recent season....but I wonder if Smith might have taken a good look around in case the opportunity to coach WSU might come up. Haskins, who clearly hopes to be retained by Smith, speaks very highly of the new coach. Of course, it's never a good idea to speak poorly of someone you hope will keep you on the job.

Saw that and wasn't surprised. USF beat Stanford by 9, Cal by 19 last season, and lost to Buffalo by 4. They were a much better team than we were last season.

They also beat St. Mary's once this past year. But I believe the scrimmage with WSU took place in the fall of 2018. I could be wrong.

I think 2018 is correct. Really, they have been better than us for all of Smith's time @ USF.
