Nice. Leach comes through again... This is a good solid matchup.... Of course the first game has to be in Starkville with the follow-up in Pullman. Leach won't even be coaching at MS State in 2030. LOL, so I'm sure it won't be against the AirRaid.

Would be a tremendous coup to get a SEC team in Pullman. Even without the return, the game at Starkville is a good get. This is of course with the notion that our program and their program are roughly where they have been over the past 2 or 3 seasons. Obviously, it is absurd to project even next year let alone next decade, and as other have pointed out, odds are neither school will even have the same HC.

We will play the away game, but there is zero chance that MSU will come to Pullman. How many times in the past has WSU signed an away and home series against a power 5 team only to have them cancel. We have had some pretty good teams sign to come here, only to pull out on their end of the bargain. Does Army remain the biggest name non-conference team to play in Pullman?

Illinois.

Illinois.
The fact that you can name the only P5 non-conference team to come to Pullman proves the issue.

As for the return from MSU, I’m sure it’s correct that they’ll buy out and not make the return. But I’m find taking their money...especially since I don’t really see this as a body bag game. Completely winnable on the road, and if they want to write a check...fine

I don’t understand the hang up P5 teams have about coming to Pullman. What makes it any different than playing at the other Pac12 schools? The cost of a charter flight into Pullman shouldn’t be any more, and the stadium and hotel are 5 minutes from the airport. Teams could be in and out way faster than playing at UW or any of the California schools. Is it just the size of the stadium?

The few I’ve talked to have indicated that, yes, the small capacity airport is a problem. The new upgrades, including control assisted landings, is a key factor for larger planes. It isn’t just runway width and length. And according to one guy I know, this is why our team departs out of Lewiston.

But I’m no pilot, so I can’t evaluate the veracity of those claims. But it makes sense.

I didn’t realize the team still flew out of Lewiston. I thought they started flying out of Pullman when the airport was upgraded however many years ago.

Weather-wise. The new system is supposed to support ground and radar assisted landing, even I heavy fog/rain/snow (barring drifts and ice) they can still land.

But now that I think about it, anyone coming for a non-con game won’t be there in that type of weather ....

The first trip to Auburn was as insufferable as any polar vortex I've ever encountered in the Northwest. Great people, fun time - but until you've drenched your boxers in sweat, you really haven't experienced heat and humidity.

Mississippi is probably right there with Alabama on the f'd up weather scale.

New Orleans in August is pretty close to as bad in my experience too. But way better food and drink so it is tolerable.

The upside is that if you pee your pants, you can play it off as sweat and people might believe you.
