WSU vs Idaho

it finally started streaming, Cougs dominating. But hold up, refs are doing everything to keep Idaho in game

Vandals aren't going to remind any of the Kellerman/Smith teams. But impressive victory.

Despite it being a not very good Idaho team, this was nearly a perfect game for the Cougars. Stifling defense, good & patient/unselfish offense, and only 5 turnovers for the game. Incredible scoring balance this year and the best depth of any team I can remember at WSU. Even the walkon got into the game and Ryan Rapp scored 12 points in 5 minutes. Lots of fun. Tougher games will follow but the Cougs did what they needed to do tonight.

WSU won by 48 by a score of 109 to 61. It was close to almost a perfect game. It was the 3rd biggest margin of victory vs Idaho in the series, in all of WSU's history.

More then the Raveling, Bennet, Sampson teams.

Question, would UCLA, USC, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Ore St, Gonzaga, Arizona score 48+ vs Idaho? Probably no. Those teams probably would win by about 18 to about 34 points. That means that WSU's margin of victory probably will be about 15 to 30 points more then anybody else.

That's how fantastic, amazing, incredible, impressive the victory was, even against a weaker Idaho.

Also tho Idaho was bad last year. Despite giving up 48 point win margin to WSU, they are way much improved, better team. And despite that WSU still had a 48 point margin win.

When combine this with the GIANT 1st half lead, win vs UCSB, that shows just how good WSU is or gonna be this season.

When, if WSU beats Winthrop, and they probably will beat Winthrop, if it's by 15+ points, WSU will likely make the top 25.

And if, when that happens WSU will probably go 11-0 in non conference. 12-6, 2nd, 3rd, 4th in conference, 25-6, 2,3,4 pac 12 tourny wins, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th seed in NCAA tourny, 2nd round, Sweet 16, in NCAA.

Seriously WSU looked like a Gonzaga, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, etc blue blood vs Idaho.

Also 9 players with at least 8 points. Thats pretty amazing balance, depth.

And Rapp who only played a few garbage time minutes at end of game, scored 12 points at end of game.

Was impressed with Dishon Jackson last year. Slow start this year.

He is recovering from injury and he has been in foul trouble, and he has been double teamed more, and he has passed, set up teammates more, and he doesn't have to be one of the top scorers, as the team is deep balanced. And his rim protecting, and rebounds, defense, while he still in game, and not on bench in foul trouble, is still pretty good.

It will just be a matter of time eventually until when he starts to average about 8 to 9 to 11 to 13 points, 6,7,8,9 rebounds, 1,2 block shots, 1 steal, 1 assist, 1 take a charge per game at minimum.

Also his minutes, just like Efe has been limited because of how he has newly recovered from Injury.

Efe and Gueye has made this not a big deal

Jackson was injured? I hadn’t heard that. All I heard was how he lifted and changed his diet during the off season. An injury would explain his slow start.

Maybe I heard, understood wrong then, but on 1 of the radio broadcast of 1 of the 4 WSU bball games(forget which 1), I remember I think they said that both DJ and Efe had newly recovered from injury. If I remember right, DJ had tweaked a toe, finger, foot, hand, ankle, knee, some minor semi injury of sorts, and during, after recovery time, he was either bothered by, or playing gingerly, tentatively, etc.

I forget, dont know exactly what it was, but I remember it was something that was said, alluded to by 1 of the broadcast crew during either a pregame, during game, post game. And it was a quick reference, so it might have been missed.

And also maybe I heard, understood wrong.

But thats what I remembered hearing, understood.

Smith has said Jackson had some issues over the summer.

Jackson's issues right now are pretty simple.....he can't stay out of foul trouble. I haven't been able to see any of the games but those who have tell me DJ is getting a lot of ticky-tacky, questionable fouls called on him so far this year.

This..., and the refs have been very whistle happy overall, vs us and our opponents.

Although he had an excellent game against Seattle. Player of the game IMO. 13 points 9 boards, 6-7 shooting. 3 fouls, 19 minutes of play.

Idaho was ticky tack for sure, 4 fouls in 16 minutes.

Against UCSB, foul trouble, 4 fouls in 6 minutes of play. In his defense, he was a bad matchup against Sow, who owned us in the paint and too quick for Jackson. Sow is very good.

Alcorn St is a quick, hustle, scrappy team, not a good matchup for Jackson. I think that limited his minutes, as we needed a quicker lineup. He had 2 fouls, 12 minutes of play.

Furthermore, we have depth and options now, so part of his limited minutes is playing guys that are the best matchup for our opponents. These smaller scrappy teams aren't the best fit for Jackson's game. Last season he played his best against Pac-12 opponents.

I agree, as of yet we have not played a team that is geared toward Jackson’s game. As we get into PAC 12 play he will be more in his element as teams will have bigger players And be more able to match our athleticism. Which will probably force us to slow down a tad.

Everyone on message boards thinks fouls on our guys are ticky-tacky but they usually have Crimson colored eye glasses on.

It all depends on what the point of emphasis is this year. Too lazy to look. if it's play in the post, the refs are going to be quick on the whistle because that makes them look pretty to the ref evaluators.

It used to be a much better game when the refs called advantage/disadvantage and didn't feel compelled to call every bit of contact in order to earn their next assignment.

I would never say the calls only go against the Cougs, but it sounds like the refs are calling ticky-tack a lot throughout the early games against both teams. Jackson seems to be one of the victims. acgcoug sums it up pretty well.
