Opportunity to shine on the big stage.

Looking forward to getting to buy a few extra tickets as a season ticket holder and porking LoyalCoug when he wants to go and it’s sold out. :)

maybe a generational gap thing, but... porking someone means something completely different to me. Unless that's what you actually mean, and I'm not judging so by all means pork away. What two people do in the privacy of the Holland Archives is their own business

Great find N-C-W

Big-time announcement and a direct hit on the few posters here who insist WSU doesn't move the needle nationally ;)

Expect this one to be sold out weeks before kickoff.

Any chance that could be a secondary "GameDay" broadcast on the Pac-12 Networks?

Biggest non-con opponent ever in history...to hit Martin.

I thought that stuff was done on the 3rd floor bathrooms in Todd?

How about this instead, I’ll sell it for way more then I bought for - because I can.

I’m pretty sure you could count on your hands the number of times you could sell a ticket in Pullman for more than face value. If you’re under 40, you probably don’t need both hands.

Exactly. I usually have a hard time giving my tickets away when I can’t go.

You can’t afford my butt.

But you or some other T shirt Coug will probably pay me $200+ for a ticket to the Wisconsin game.
If anyone’s going to pay 200+ for Wisconsin tickets, tell me now. I’ll buy more at face value and sell them. Won’t take that many to pay for my season.

The Colorado game is on November 17th, the week before Apple Cup. Why has that game time already been determined? 7:30PM is going to be frigid. The only way to preserve attendance will be naming it parents weekend.

Never mind. I forgot the Colorado game was on a Friday night. That game time makes sense.

A 2:00 start is the only way anyone’s showing up for Northern Colorado. Sandwiched between Wisconsin and Colorado, I don’t expect more than 20K. If we’re not 2-0, we might not go past 18K.
Northern Colorado? What? Where have I been? I didn't know we were playing them. Geez, Colorado State, N. Colorado, Colorado all in one season. I was born in Colorado Springs. Might just have to go to them all!

I downgraded my seats when I started paying tuition so I probably wouldn’t get $200 for mine but I’ll bet the seats between the 25 yard lines will go for a healthy premium. Fair chance it will be a Badger fan forking out the dough.

Add in Air Force for a low tier bowl game and it would be a quadfecta.

Northern Colorado is actually between Wisconsin and Oregon State. The beavers tend to be a more popular opponent and they travel reasonably well, so that should pull a decent crowd. But probably means the NorCol crowd will be even smaller.

The only thing that will save it is being the only early afternoon game before the weather starts getting iffy.

They aren't televising it because of WSU.

I'm in shock that the real UW is actually going to play on our home field. This is the biggest thing since the fighting Temple Owls came to Pullman.

As I recall, the only other P5 team who has ever actually come to Pullman was Illinois in the late 90s. And Illinois ain’t Wisconsin.

Colorado was scheduled to come when they were in the Big 12. That was the game cancelled for 9/11, I think. It was never rescheduled.

I think there was an appearance by Army sometime in the 50s, but that doesn’t really count.

EDIT: Army actually came in 1980. Well past their heyday, but still long enough that they don’t count as P5. And Illinois was the opener in 1998.

Why is everyone surprised Wisconsin is showing up? They're the one B1G team that straps them up and has played a handful of P12 teams away since 2000.

Other B1G teams, sure, but give Wisconsin credit.

Because of all of the other times the school we’ve traveled to has ducked out on the return trip to Pullman.

Personally I don’t understand it. For a smallish P5 we have one of the best brands in the country. The Coug logo has to be one of the most recognizable with 20 years of raise the flag, and we’re one of the top viewed P12 schools. I wouldn’t expect Notre Dame or Alabama to be interested in a home/home but other than those handful of prestigious programs I would think Pullman would be an attractive destination for a P5 OOC matchup.

Because of our geography, people assume that Pullman is difficult to get to. They forget that while Pullman is 79 miles from the airport, it's a relatively easy drive if you plan ahead. It takes roughly 90 minutes, but I've found it to be an easy drive on the way to the game. Husky Stadium is only 18 miles from Seatac but it can take an hour in Seattle traffic. It can take 2 hours to drive the 29 miles from LAX to the Rose Bowl.

Regardless, people see us in the corner of the state and think that it's going to be a pain to get to Pullman.

The people that make these decisions are landing with the team in Pullman, not driving from Spokane (admin and mega boosters). For them it’s a 10 min drive. I really don’t think they care much about the few thousand fans that are hoofing it down from Spokane.

Usually these things come down to money and opportunity (or risk) for a marquee win. I’m not going to pretend I know how the financials of these things work but the risk/reward of going to Pullman must not be favorable or more teams would have honored their agreements.

That game was played in 2004 in Seattle. Swogger was throwing too hard that day.

Could be wrong, but I think that was a different contract, instead of a reschedule.

Brink threw OK. Buff DBs managed to catch his throws pretty well.
Good one. Brink was a noodle arm, but hey he beat the mutts 3 times.

Brink was a GD gamer. If I needed a drive to win a game and you gave me any Coug QB to pick he’d be up there near the top
Unfortunately, sometimes he threw the TD to the wrong team.

While he wasn’t the guy who was going to throw deep balls and air things out, his legacy is diminished by bad conditioning, especially on D. His offenses frequently put up more than enough points to earn a W, only to have the defense fold up the tent at the end of the 3rd. He probably should have played in 2, maybe 3 bowl games…and got none.

C’mon HDTH

How about showing CougNation a little love 😊

Every one of those TV execs and bean counters is aware WSU hosted arguably the greatest GameDay telecast ever a few years ago.

Martin Stadium is one of the most unique venues in all of a College Football. It’s an ideal setting for a national TV broadcast

There’s some serious competition for this time slot. Alabama vs Texas on ESPN and Oregon vs Texas Tech on Fox.

Gameday. "Holy shit Pullman!" - Rece Davis. It was awesome.
