Hindsight is 20/20. The agents that pursued him were somewhere on the spectrum ranging from outright lies to overly optimistic when it came to his chances of being drafted. We went back and forth about that on this board, and most of us recognized that he was a "tweener" and unlikely to be drafted, though we figured that some team(s) would invite him to try out. The Vikings did that; he tore his ACL; and we'll never know what might have happened this season for Herc. Hopefully he successfully rehabs and maybe he will make the team next year, and maybe he won't. Time will tell.
As for whether we would be undefeated with Herc....I think we would have won all the same games that we won; and I think we would have beaten SC. But what Herc brings to the party would probably have not helped with slush compacting to ice in our cleats, so I doubt that he would have made a substantial difference in the Apple Cup. We probably would have made a top 12 bowl, however, with only one loss...
