2021 Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge PF commits

Kid has two years to add some height and also put muscle on his frame. Imagine we'll be fighting to keep him committed for the next two years.

Agree on fighting to keep him in a couple years especially if he were to get taller. Looks like an intriguing prospect.

This is exactly the kind of recruit, Smith needs to try to get and get.

The kid is probably a LATE BLOOMER, or will probably be a LATE BLOOMER in future, or he would probably have had LOTS of interest, and been HEAVILY RECRUITED, by better, bigger colleges, by the time he signs.

The kid has a LOT OF POTENTIAL, UPSIDE, and very little, if any downside.

Like you, I expect better, bigger colleges to try to swoop in, sign this kid, as a PLAN B, when, if those colleges dont get their highest ended 3 star, Low end 4 star, lowest ended 5 star, Plan A, B recruits.

I think that there is about a 75% to 93% chance that he stays committed to, and signs with WSU, beating out the better bigger colleges.

Reason for that:

1. By the time he could, would sign with WSU, Smith, WSU might, maybe even probably make CBI, bubble make NIT, or just barely not make NIT, while on NIT bubble with about 16,17 wins, 6,7,8 wins in conference.

2. Smith, Assistant coach Shaw has a lot of Portland connections with Portland teams, coaches, players, recruits.

3. By committing the kid 2 years earlier then the signing day, and because Smith has probably established a relationship with the kid, because of the early committing, and because of the Portland connection, Smith will probably have a relationship with the kid that will, would cement the kid into signing with WSU 2 years from now, instead of signing with the bigger better colleges.

4. I think the kid would be a good fit for WSU, Smith, and the kid.

5. I think the kid, and his coaches know that, because of Smith's, Shaws Portland Connection.

6. The kid probably knows about Noah Williams, and probably would like to or wouldnt mind playing with Noah Williams

7. Smith has recruited kids like this, and usually when Smith recruits a kid like this, usually the kid stays commited, signs with Smith, instead of signing with bigger, better colleges.

I think this kid will probably be a highest ended 3 star, to lowest ended 4 star, by the time the kid signs.

I think he will sign with WSU.

And I hope he does sign with WSU.

I project the kid will probably be about 6 foot 7 and 1/2 inches tall to 6 foot 8 inches tall to 6 foot 8 and 1/2 inches tall, and about 240 to 243 pounds, and able to play the 3,4,5 spots, by the time hr the kid signs.

I think this will be a awesome, fantastic get for Smith.

But worst case, even if the kid were to not sign with WSU. and sign with a bigger, better college, or sign with WSU but not pan out, etc.

Smith would still have done the right thing in trying to get this kid, recruit.

Smith is doing a awesome job so far.

Seems like a bit of a first for WSU Head Coach and staff. An early offer and commit.

With this staff we are well positioned in Oregon
According to Brand X, an offer for 2021 has also gone out to 6-9 forward Ben Gregg of Clackamas HS. The Portland area is often ignored by most of the Pac-12. With Shaw now part of the staff, maybe WSU can carve a niche that doesn't seem possible in Seattle area. OSU and Ralph Miller built some awfully good teams with Portland guys: AC Green, Mark Radford, Ray Blume, Jeff Stout, etc.

Glad Cougar

I'm sure Rav offered all those guys. I hadn't thought of the Shaw angle but of course he has roots in that area. I was just going to post Portland was historically even more difficult to recruit than Seattle. It would be great if Smith/staff can crack that area.

Article on Gregg (and Nathan Bittle) being in the ESPN top 100: https://www.oregonlive.com/recruiti...l-prospects-make-nations-top-60-for-2021.html

Shaw as well as Coach Plank, another assistant from Portland State a couple of years ago. Guess they haven't named him yet!!!
