5 Days, 12.5 hours until kickoff

Biggest Coug game in a long time.

line is down to 13.5 to 14.
I’m getting very pumped up for this game.

Need to keep my eyes open. Guessing the Pac-12 network will show some of our great Coug wins against Whoregon.

Hopefully 2003 is on sometime. I haven’t seen that game other than being in the stands. The recent wins would be nice as well. And if they showed the game with the phantom PI call, that should really fuel my disdain and get me even more excited.

I haven’t been back to Autsen since that 2003 game. I used to go there quite a bit. The douche bag fans were too big of a turn off. Wish I was going this year, though.

The key to the game will be if the Cougs will be able to deal with and/ or counter their pass rush. Whoever is calling the plays will need to have a handful of plays drawn up to help JDL get rid of the ball quickly and keep the duck defense honest. Establishing a run threat will help as well, but I think it'll be more important to frustrate the blitzers by never allowing them to get home.

Unfortunately, I've yet to see a blitz kill hot-route from this offense outside of JDL chucking up a 50/50 ball to an outside WR, and I think UO would be happy to settle for that given JDL's completion percentage on those throws, especially when under pressure.

Another issue I think will affect the game is how much the refs will allow their DBs to accost our WRs, which in the past has been a ton. I don't disagree with this strategy from a team, as most of the times Refs are too chickensh!t to call it as much as its happening, especially if the offending team sets the precedent early. UW has historically manhandled our WRs as well. It could make establishing the running game even more important.

We'll see.

Agree that the Oregon pass rush will be key; particularly keeping JDL healthy. Everyone wants us to win this weekend, obviously, but not at the expense of the last 2 games. We can't afford to have JDL pounded into the turf.

The BYE came at a good time for us in terms of getting Deon and Borghi healthy and refreshed. We're going to need to lean on the running game to keep them off balance.

That blitz kill route could easily be Borghi getting just outside or behind the LBs. The kid had 80+ receptions his first couple seasons just being the dump option...and while he's been more tentative than I like as a rusher this year, he's still dangerous in space.

Of course... will they do it though?

Biggest COUG game since the 1997 Apple Cup and both Recent Rose Bowls. This game is so huge and I'm more excited than Christmas. CANNOT WAIT.

The most overrated team in the country hosting the most underrated team in the country. Every since the ASU win, I'm so confident that this game is going to change our world.

And I'm thinking that our player's are going to want it more than their player's. Because their players know that they're not the # 4 team in the country!

The same. Was at the 2003 game, and haven't been back since. We emptied the stadium by halftime. Here's a snapshot:

I have more faith in our interim, duct tape and bailing wire staff putting it in for this week than I had in Rolo or Leach making a weekly game plan.
Ain't that the truth! That's why Chun needs to have a contract ready in hand, after the Oregon game. All kidding here, but sign it on the back of a napkin, sign it at a Denny's like MLM, sign it on the hood of a car. Get 'er done, because we've got the right people on the bus.

Sign it right after the Oregon game. Don't wait for pre-Arizona, or post AC. Get 'er done.

which PI garbage? J Hill getting his arms held down, or the late game drive where the CB decided to tackle (can't remember who) our WR before the ball left our QB's hand? (damn, I hate getting old... I can't remember crap for name any more)

edit - looked it up, Falk to Meyers.

I am excited as well and while I think we’ve had some big exciting games this is definitely the most important post Leach.

big opportunity for us, I am so happy for the players after all they have been through this year and last year with the pandemic to have something important to play for.

I am pumped. Go Cougs! It’s duck season!
