6 (maybe more) golden tickets

At least this 6-3 guard can fill up the hoop. 41 points in the semi-finals. He is a SG not a PG.tho unlike some of Ernie's guys he does have a handle. 36.5 from 3 and 43.5 from the field.

Excessive yawning can come from fatigue or anxiety. No wonder given the status of Smith losing players and recruiting the dreaded 2 stars whom people used to fret over/ :)

Who cares if we lose any of the recruits that Ernie went after? They SHOULD have been a good fit for his "system," but not necessarily for Smith's. I don't think anyone is that worried about stars, rather wins. If you can't recruit the type of players your system needs you are in trouble. IMO Kent's system needed a much higher caliber of player to be successful vs Bennett Ball. I know some are still butt hurt about him leaving but his records and teams speak for themselves. Maybe he couldn't have done it without his dad but many of us have got lucky breaks or favors to get our feet in the door. Don't forget to tell Ernie I send my best and I hope he enjoys retirement.

Yup this stellar pg quit his college team after leading his team in TO s with 25 in less than a month and 18 mins of playing time and quit after an altercation his coach . Like Ike he has no taken a shot he does not like.it is oe against five much of the time in his juco days. He sounds like a good candidate for an implosion if he takes the bait and becomes a coug.

Kent didn't have much structure to his offense. It was zone offense with some screens. Smith is the polar opposite, he'll run more sets. Harder to get guys into rhythm in Smith's offense but it should result in fewer turnovers.

Takes a different type of player. We need kids who will buy in and run the plays while giving max effort on defense.

Kent wanted to create the bulk of his offense from the transition game. Nothing wrong with being opportunistic on steals and off rebounds, but that cant be the primary focus of your offense. Our half court offense was putrid.

Who really expected anything from this class. So we move down a spot from 11th to 12th. It seems like the new guy is at least pretending like he has a plan .

We have a new coach because our last one completely sucked!! The losers just can’t seem to grasp that Kent was horrible at WSU and horrible for WSU and that’s the reason we had to fire him and we have to pay extra for a real coach.
I'm optimistic for the first time in years even though I realize Smith may fail or at least it may take time to turn around this mess of a program. But at the very least, Ernie Kent is no longer connected to my alma mater. That's a good thing and gives me hope and a renewed interest in Cougar basketball. Thank you Pat Chun.

Glad Cougar

Branden Boyd graduate transfer has committed to Cal Baptist basketball powerhouse. Smith had offered Boyd. The big guys are gone and now the others are picking thier schools

Sounds like Smith would be wise to go and have Chun fire him and rehire Kent. At least that way we have a chance.

Although Boyd had been approached by WSU, I haven't read anywhere that Smith actually extended an offer. There are numerous players who have interest from a lot of schools, but not all the schools have actually offered scholarships.

Glad Cougar

The problem is if the players on the court are nerds first and basketball players second. The players names in this post have not yet chosen WSU. Time to hit the juco scarp heap and look for second tier grad transfers.

Seems that most of the recruits that have signed LOI's haven't actually left, odd that someone hasn't asked.

David Jenkins will visit Gonzaga this weekend. He previously visited Oregon and is close to a decision

What's a "scarp heap"? Is that a place where you scrap around for carp?

I was having lunch with Coach Smith yesterday, and I asked "So Coach what is your biggest recruiting challenge?". He said: "Well Loyal (not my real name), these kids nowadays are all over social media. And they keep coming back and saying Coach, you get attacked so much on this obscure WW site by one guy, and so do we as recruits. Is that what WSU alums and fans are like? This HIspanic-Native American guy who talks such crap? Is he a typical Coug?"

What could I say? I did tell him that maybe he should contact this Scott Hood guy and ask him to shovel the shit off of his website. For the good of all things Coug.

Antwan January a 6'11 pivot has signed with MWC middle roader New Mexico. January was recently offered by Smith after decommiting from Illinois. I think that Smith got his name out of Kent s wastebasket. Loyal is still threatening people and talking like of someone with a low intellectual and moral character.

How in the world can you talk about moral character with a straight face? Your such a idiot about basketball, sports and life in general. I doubt you have ever stepped foot on WSU campus you should just go away!

PS. Don’t bother to respond you are blocked and you have more than earned it! Hope your proud!!

Take the crazy ex girlfriend approach. Toggle him on and off every couple weeks...yup, still crazed.

'xcuse me? Who am I threatening? I'm not threatening anyone. But keep repeating it a million times (like your baseball attendance figures of 200 fans) and I guess it will become fact. As far as my intellectual and moral character, well,..... Opinions differ - Patrick Swayze in Road House.

This is false. January flipped from Illinois to sign with New Mexico. He didn't reopen his recruitment.

Henson announced he's staying with WSU. Smith told him he would need to work on his defense, but Henson likes Smith's offense.

This gives us 3 bigs for next year: James, Pollard, and Henson. Expect Smith to add more of a true center and another stretch 4.

Isaac Bonton commits to WSU to fill the JC guard role I penciled in. Should take some of the point guard duties away from Jervae and provide some bench offense.

That's interesting. Henson can shoot with range but wondered about the other parts of his game.

Wonder if Likayi follows?

This new Coach is knocking the socks off of recruiting. Nailed the Graduate Transfer, nailed the PG, nailed the gem of Henson from the early commits. Bet a big is in the works.
