A big move for your 2019 game with Houston

In addition to traffic, things I didn't like about Houston were, in no particular order: fire ants, roaches, humidity, people complaining about how horrible Houston is, lack of zoning, pollution, threat of hurricanes (none hit the area when I was there) and flatness. What I did like were friendly people, excellent Tex Mex and Mexican food and BBQ, thunderstorms, and warm Gulf water at Galveston (did not like having to wash tar off my feet and legs after entering said water though). There are worse places to go see our Cougars play (like Baylor and Waco). I say go to Houston, and maybe catch an NFL game or baseball game in addition to seeing our Cougars.

We ate some Mexican food at a restaurant in a suburb on the west side of Houston and they made the most incredible guacamole right in front of you at the table.

Stop the insanity and stupidity. The Seattle game didnt work because it was a bad idea.

Tell me again why WSU spent $60,000,000 on a football ops building to show off??? Tell me again why they spent all that money on a stadium upgrade??? To ship home games somewhere else??? Dumbest idea ever.

Also, YOU GO TO WATCH THE COUGS!!!!!!!

Who cares who they play??? You buy your ticket to see your school play. Not the OTHER SCHOOL!!!

Not to mention, Boise and Houston are probably about the best non con opponents we can get to Martin Stadium. If you're going to do a Seattle game, the only reason I could see doing it is if it draws an opponent you wouldn't get otherwise. But I agree, just don't do it. The team played like such garbage in those games, it just wasn't a good showcase and isn't worth sacrificing a potential win.

Cougs should take a tack from the SEC and schedule the easiest slate they can. I understand fans here are feeling their oats with the recent success and want to have a TX road bender, but what is the real upside to playing the American Athletic Conference on the road when you already have 9 tough league games and other conferences do not?

If you win, you should have won anyway - and perhaps you get on a couple TX kids' radar, which may or may not ever produce recruiting dividends.

But if you lose, it's an embarrassment, it's likely negative for recruiting, and you start 2019 behind the 8 ball, already nearly out of contention for gold.

Let the losers criticize our soft schedule when we're in contention in November. Know how to play the game...

The Home and Home with Houston has been scheduled for awhile now. That is nothing new.

Actually moving the game to NRG makes it less of a full home game for UH. They rarely play there. Their home stadium is on campus.

So this move for WSU for a series that was going to be played anyway.

I hope your silly commissioner is paying attention. I predict that game will either be a sell out or close to it.

2 things he might learn :

That WSU/ Leach has a following that goes beyond the geography of his conference and he should play into that not fight it

He could do some serious disruptive damage to the B12 if he made a move to add Houston to the P12

lolololol there is no chance this game draws 80,000 people. It will be lucky to crack 45k

The fact that it’s been scheduled for awhile doesn’t change the fact that we should be as risk-averse as possible going forward. And whether it’s a home game or not for the AAC team matters zero - even Seattle is not a home game for us. Stay away from P5/road games.

Downtown Houston has come a LONG way. I was there this summer for a conference; had not spent any time there in 30 years; and was impressed. I remember what it used to be. And the people were just as nice as they have always been...not sure why, but the more miserable the weather in a particular city, usually the nicer the people are.

And of course, when in Houston there is Real BBQ. Not that imposter west coast stuff. The real thing. A trip to Houston for a game would be incomplete without a good dose of BBQ.

Are you saying that Whole Foods’ “365 BBQ Sauce” is not the real thing?

Im in Houston once a month for work. You can drive for an hour at 70 mph and never leave Houston. Downtown isnt bad at all. If youre somewhere you shouldnt be itll be obvious. I would suggest making the trip out for the game if you can.

We should schedule Memphis if that’s a concern.

The food is better at Vanderbilt or Tulane too.

I have a cousin that went to SMU, told her I was thinking of going to the WSU vs Houston game.

She said don't bother, their tailgating/football culture/environment sucks.... And their fans are a$$hats.

Probably some bias in there, but for what its worth...

The only thing I will guarantee you is your cousin never watched a game where SMU played UH at NRG stadium. All of their games would have been at the campus stadium. NRG is an NFL stadium and a totally different deal. They actually make the AdvoCare Texas Kick Off game sort of like a bowl game . Attached is what they had for fans last year > (Ole Miss played Texas Tech )

This is pretty cool -- I'm going to be there with some family. Was going even if it was at Houston's stadium.
