A mighty by many campaign: WSU has 250K alums, 161K living in Washington

If started a "High 5 for the Cougs" campaign....$5 bucks a month to WSU athletes, 250K alums gets you to $15M annually.

You could make the $5 tax deductible and give it to the CAF.

More on alumni....
Noble idea but good luck.

A shitload of our alums never cared about Cougar Athletics, don't follow us, can't or don't care to donate. Others (like me) supported the program and the University for many, many years. Then lost interest enough to quit getting out the checkbook.

A good portion of my disinterest (which waned after Wulff and the Bennett's) is what I consider a lack of transparency by Athletic, the Pac-2, and frankly the University at large. Sorry, I'm an accounting/finance guy. I want to see hard numbers (not just budgets), and a real discussion about them. Preferably with a media that is smart enough to ask basic questions, not just go "Hoo Rah" at the limited shit that comes out. So no, no money from me. And I'm still waiting to see the brick I bought for the IPF.

Don’t forget about the continuous expansion of administrators with bloated salaries and few responsibilities

If you are donating $5 a month highly likely you’re not getting over the standard deduction.

I have opined on this on many occasions. Remember, I worked for our alma mater for 17 years. Sam Smith was one of my references. I worked on Rawlins's Strategic Plan. I pissed next to Elson Floyd on the 4th floor bathroom (no I did not peek), was invited to a pregame at his residence. Met Carmento. She was pretty desirable. I have history and knowledge. Unlike most of you grasshoppers.

I look at the roster of our VP's and senior administrators and want to barf. You have to be F-ing kidding me.

Meanwhile, enrollment drops, Research funding is on the chopping block, but "all is well".

The new president seems to have jettisoned the “all is well” and replaced it with “a new era.” We need to “recalibrate” and do things different. I think that’s true. But I see no evidence that she’s preparing to lighten the top of the org chart, so I suspect she is saying that the people who are actually doing the work need to do more for the same money.

She’ll just replace the old lackeys with her own lackeys.

Her age suggests she's also a "care taker" of sorts.

And I also agree with LC. I give because I still buy tickets....mainly last season, out of guilt to support WSU. But I don't see myself really wanting to go to Pullman to see a football team, many of FCS caliber kids, take on former Mountain West teams that will pound us. Even the idea of a future Apple Cup, where UW has a football payroll above $15M, where we are doing little to nothing to make up the difference.

Any games with that wide a gap in payroll will be massacres. The bodybag games will literally be that.

My hope is that she will turn out to NOT be a "care taker". This is her last job before retirement. She has no string of folks that she owes at this institution, or even in this state. She speaks well, and she is actually pretty much free to say or do what ever she wants, within the bounds of good sense.

Yes, she may do the minimum. That is always possible. But I actually think it more likely that she will shake things up more than you expect. What that will look like will probably take most of her first 12-18 months to see, but with a supportive board of regents (and she is their hire, so she'll get at least a year's worth of honeymoon period), I suspect we'll all be pleasantly surprised.

I think you'll start seeing her plan in the next 2 months.

My only question is if it will include a warm water bidet in her office...like the one she apparently put in at USU.

My wife is about the same age, and due to the Prep H related issues that so many women of that age have, loves her warm water bidet. Any good Japanese magic toilet provides that. Cheaper than paying them…and it is a depreciated expense.

Only nazis and fascists are against warm water bidets.
