I just remembered something that occurred after last year's Apple Cup. One of the mutt players stated that they knew ahead of the snap what the play was, that they had picked up on a "tell" from our offense. Distinctly remember thinking that he should have kept his mouth shut and maybe we would still be giving away our intentions this year. Any idea what the "tell" was? Someone posted that when Halliday changed the play that it was invariably to a run. Did Falk show the same tendency? Was that it or some else? One of the players changing their stance or something else? Would be nice to know this so it doesn't reoccur. Any indication that other opponents had noticed something?

Well they have Choate as an assistant. He was here in 2012 and he got to watch the offense and learned all about it. So the "tell" could very easily be a former assistant telling them what to look for.

We don't run very many plays and really everyone knows what we are doing. The real difference is the execution.

What hurt us the most was
Their DLine getting up field with the O-line not all there and not playing strong
Our guys dropping balls
Mayle fumbling
Our Kicker not able to kick it past their 30 yard line on kickoffs
Their punting putting us inside our own 10 yd line multiple times.
They were 8/17 on 3rd down. we were 1/10
We also had 9 penalties false starts holds etc.

Good point. I had completely forgotten about Choate. He certainly knows the offense and Leach's tendencies.

They didn't need any help, did they? That game stunk. The weather was fun too.

Yeah we really shot ourselves in the foot so many times that game. We were kind of in it down 7-0 for most of the first half and then Mayle fumbled on a big catch that would have given us momentum, and then after they scored to make it 14-0 right after that Falk threw reckless pick trying too hard to turn it back around before half. Then the first drive the huskies had after halftime kickoff they scored making it 21-0.

In basically the last 3 minutes of the half / 1st minute of the 2nd we went from being down 7-0 to down 21-0

Just lots of us beating ourselves that gave the game away.

You all remember this game much more clearly than I do. I think I have just done a great job of blocking it all from my memory. I was truly excited to see the team play the Dawgs in the Apple Cup, but it was uncompetitive almost from the start.

My overall take was the team was just not prepared or up for a big game.

I remember some stuff but probably more along your lines. I just remember the scuffle prior to the kickoff and thinking, "This is going to be great". And that was the only time I saw that kind of intensity from WSU. I remember dropped passes… I remember poor routes. It was like they just forgot what they were doing, or something. Even on the sidelines, there just wasn't any intensity. It was like they were tired.
